Locked WSJT-X Subprocess crash with 2.6.0 using WSPR #wsjt-x-crashing #WSPR
Allan Saul
Hello WSJT team,
I am receiving the following error code on a consistent basis when using it in WSPR mode after running for some time I get a pop up window with. Subprocess Error Subprocess failed with exit code 1 Running C:\WSJT\wsjtx\bin\wsprd -C 500 -o 4 -a C:\Users\root\AppData\Local\WSJT-X -f 50.293000 C:/users/root/AppData/Local/WSJT-X/save/230113_1158.wav Cannot open data file 'C:/users/root/AppData/Local/WSJT-X/save/230113_1158.wav' When I close the popup box WSJT immediately closes / crashes. When I revert to version 2.5.4 it does NOT happen on the same W10 machine. The error is quite repeatable. 73 de Allan ZS1LS |

Haven't had any feedback on the initial report yet.,
Am I the only person experiencing this issue ? Do the authors of WSJX-X actually read these bug reports. Just experienced the similar Subprocess error. This time on a completely different computer in an completely separate LAN environment running 2.6.1 under windows 11 it just happened again after a few hours. The only common feature was running WSPR on 10m on 2.6.x 73 Allan ZS1LS |

I am not an expert on W11, but to me the issue is related to operating system not WSJT-X as such: " Cannot open data file 'C:/users/root/AppData/Local/WSJT-X/save/230113_1158.wav' ". I think, that there has been this kind of question earlier, but cannot remember solution. 73, Reino OH3mA -----Original Message-----

Exclude all of your ham software folders and data locations.

The antivirus programs are interfering with all sorts of ham stuff including logging QSOs. I helped one of the DXpeditions a couple years ago when they were losing QSOs in the log due to antivirus scanning of the log file for example. For Windows Defender: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4028485/windows-10-add-an-exclusion-to-windows-security For example I exclude all of these c:\Program Files (x86)\HamApps c:\ProgramData\HamApps c:\WSJT %LOCALAPPDATA%\WSJT-X (and any other WSJT-X directories for alternate configurations) %LOCALAPPDATA%\HamApps %HOMEPATH%\flrig.files %HOMEPATH%\fldigi.files Also exclude your logging program and it's data files too and database location. I use Log4OMV2 for example For Log4OM2 I also have %HOMEPATH%\AppData\Roaming\LogOMV2 Mike W9MDB On Friday, January 27, 2023 at 09:03:45 AM CST, Reino Talarmo <reino.talarmo@...> wrote:

I had this problem on two separate Linux machines. My solution was to change the directory to save to. I use home/documents/save. been working fine for months now. I don't know if that would work in win. Seeing that this occurs on windows also is this something in the wsjtx code? Thanks Dan KC2STA On Fri, Jan 27, 2023 at 9:44 AM Allan Saul <allan@...> wrote:
