Np FT8 on 40? #FT8 #band

Strangely, for at least the last 3 weeks, I've been unable to find FT8 activity (or any activity for that matter) on 7.071 or 7.074.  I have tuned there during both day and nighttime hours using two different transceivers and am basically greeted with the sound of silence.  The problem isn't with the transceivers because on both, 40 is otherwise alive and well.  What's going on?

Try calling CQ?  Is your antenna OK?

Lots of FT8 on 40M in the evening and night time hours.
Do you have the correct mode set up in your rig?
Correct sideband?
I assume that you listened as well, however with the wrong
mode, the frequency will be off enough to not allow you to hear
the FT8 traffic.

There has been activity so my first choice would be to be on 7074 and make sure its USB. If your on LSB you may not here anything.

After calling some cq does your callsign show on pskreporter? 73

Definitely an equipment situation. There has been lots of activity on 40M. Even during the last geomagnetic storm we had a month ago or so I could copy a few stations on 40M (although admittedly is was just a few).

If you can be heard on PSK then you are TXing on USB. I would check that you don’t have any attenuators set on your rig that may be killing you on RX for 40.

If you can hear on 20, and be heard on 40, and assuming you’re using the same antenna for both (and that the antenna is not terribly compromised on 40) I would look at your rig as suspect. Maybe you set a filter for CW and forgot or something along those lines. You can pick up some FT-8 on 40M most nights with a bit of wire laying on the ground connected to the center pin of your coax.

just checked PSKreporter, and it said that you were seen 2 minutes ago, but did not show a location.
