Locked MSK144 upgrade... #EnhancementReqest

Hello wsjtx dev. team,

So, I've been playing with MSK144 on 6 Meters lately, I've even just turned on the 50.260 MHz to receive overnight and let it run on RX.

Now, I see that usually I see at least 2 or 3 pips with callsigns decoded during the night. Problem is, I am asleep.

I know, I know you folks don't seem to like the idea of automated QSO's; however, this mode and method is so few and far between...

I would really like to see a fully automatic mode for MSK144 for meteor scatter, so that we can run an automated QSO... pre-select the frequency, turn it on with 1 button, go to bed. Listen, listen, listen... when the radio hears a pip - let it do its thing and complete a QSO if it can.

Then auto-reset (tx-enable) to get ready to fire for the next opportunity.

Further, automatically turn on the .wav function to record the QSO.

Thanks & 73

Perhaps a alarm to wake you up and have a proper QSOšŸ˜‰

A really BAD idea, IMHO.

There are enough "robot" stations that pounce on stations calling CQ without regard to the area they are calling.
We do not need any more QRM on the bands.

JP Tuscon:

Would your licence conditions permit unattended operation which is what you're advocating?

In our UK licence conditions unattended operation is defined as follows:

ā€œUnattended Operationā€ means the operation of Radio Equipment by the Licensee when the Licensee is in a different location to that where the Radio Equipment is located.

The key part of the statement is the operation of the equipment by the licencee; your suggestion would eliminate the licencee from the system and hence would not be permitted here.

In any event I think your suggestion is a really bad idea.

Does that mean that you cannot create a WSPR beacon in the UK??? Or is there and exemption for beacons and repeaters?

Yes, in Italy. The second statement with some rules.
