Locked FMT.all not written #wsjtxconfig

Steve

Hello. I have not used WSTJX in quite a while. I just set up a new radio (FTDX10) and wanted to run a frequency calibration. I know that FT8 using the app and my computer are working properly as I have made a number of contacts, and the radio is controlled properly. I am using WIN 10 with WSTJX version 2.6.1 6b6d74.
I set up the frequencies for the AM stations I want use as frequency standards, and when I select MODE>FreqCal and TOOLS>Execute Frequency Calibration Cycle the radio switches to USB, cycles through the list and is offset by 1500Hz. The waterfall also shows the bar for each station very close or right on 1500Hz. When I click on MEASURE and go through several cycles there is no fmt.all file created anywhere on the computer, let alone in /bin. I have been trying for two day, but no joy. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, Steve N2QLQ/4

Steve,

Have you tried Tools>Solve for calibration parameters?
The fmt.all should be in the Log directory, the same directory as for wsjtx_log.adi and wsjt-x.ini.

Hi Steve;
That's "same" as I have. Is it totally empty or is there e.g. wsjt-x.ini file?
Does that directory open, when you select File >Open log directory?
I do have a fmt.all file in my log directory. It is about one year old. Currently I cannot initiate frequency calibration with v2.6.1, but it should behave in the same manner.

Reino..well, I found the fmt.all file, but it was under /Local/WSJT-X rather than /Local/WSJT-X/logs. When I moved it, the program did not open. I decided to remove any and all references to WSJT-x and do a total re-installation. I will let you know if that works.

Steve,
We never said that it should be in /Local/WSJT-X/logs. That sub-directory is only for logging how wsjt-x behaves for bugging and performance purposes, the log file may tell a lot for developers, but not for normal user. Those logs have nothing to do with your activity to make QSOs or measure frequency.
Best luck for the re-installation. Please note that the re-installation keeps the Local/WSJT-X directory as it is, no removal of files, only new ones are silently generated on demand, if missing.
