Mac drivers for ICOM have been included in the Max OS for years. Do not down load and install Silicon Drivers. The uninstall program does not work. It took me an hour with apple support to get my IC 7100 working. It was seamless when I switched to the IC 7300. The same when I switched to K4D
The only radio I know of is YAESU that needs drivers. Ray W8LYJ |

You were right OH3mA. I thought Macs didn't need drivers, but in reading the CAT manual for the radio it mentions the Silicon Labs Dual CP210x USB to UART Bridge driver. I didn't need this previously with other radios in which I used a Digirig. Watched YouTube video on the Yaesu FTDX101MP setup with MAC and WSJTX and that one mentioned needing the driver as well. WSJTX still lists the codec as USB in the audio settings, but the UART is listed for the radio settings serial port. Solid info to prompt me on digging deeper. Thanks!

You need to install the USB driver from Icom for the Mac.

Both Windows OS and Mac OS computers need the USB driver. On Feb 13, 2023, at 12:08 AM, Reino Talarmo <reino.talarmo@...> wrote:rig_open: 'USB' is not a valid COM port name 1:rig.c(833):rig_openHi Jon, |

rig_open: 'USB' is not a valid COM port name 1:rig.c(833):rig_openHi Jon, Your serial communication port (CAT control, Serial port i.e. COM port) is not set to a mac serial port for your rig. Unfortunately for mac I cannot help more about the serial port names. The 'USB' as port name is a bit misleading in normal rig settings. 73, Reino OH3mA |

I can't get WSJT-X to work on new FT-710 nor with lab 599 TX-500. The TX-500 I was able to use with previous WSJT-X version. I am using a MAC, so I don't think there are any drivers to download. I select USB and see decodes, but can't get TEST CAT to go green, and get multiple errors on the popup. These are the errors I see for the TX-500. Very similar to FT-710 just with the relevant different settings.

Dave,
I am running WSJT-X with a 7610 and a Mac. also. I am using a Macbook Air. The serial port I use is /dev/tty.SLAB_USBtoUART The other port /dev/cu.SLAB_USBtoUART I have also but it doesn't work with my WSJT-X What I would suggest is bringing up system information, select USB and see if the driver shows up there. If it isn't then install another driver from Icom's website for the 7610. Even if it is there I would still do a new driver install. I tried to show a screen shot of my settings, not sure if it came through. Bob K6UJ |

I am running on a 2019 Macbook Pro (Monterey). I've been running WSJT-X for several years without problems. But today I suddenly started getting this error, and no amount of rebooting of things seems to fix it. Has anyone ever encountered this or know a way to debug it?
The error is: "Rig failure Hamlib error: IO errorrig.c(745):rig_open return while opening connection to rig." It's not an issue with the cabling or the radio, as it works fine on WIndows. On the Mac, The device shows up with the usual serial port name (I know it's connected because it shows up to CI-V Redirect.) The device shows up as /dev/cu.SLAB_USBtoUART. I tried both that name and /dev/tty.SLAB_USBtoUART, but neither works. The rig is an IC-7610. I checked all the settings between Windows and the Mac and they're the same. I'm stumped. Any ideas? 73, Dave WD6T |
