I seem to have a audio issue with my Rig Blaster Advantage. I am getting a db level of 80 db. I must have a setting wrong. I have WSJT-X with the audio in set in the settings of the Rig Blaster. I am trying to decrease the audio but can't seem to able to control the audio. Ant help would be appreciated. Tnx -- *73'S DAVE NU4N*

Yes my Windows was up to date. Like I said a did a system restore twice and still getting 80 db. I am sure it's a setting in the input is set wrong. But I keep trying and can't bring the db's down. Well the program is still working. I sent West Mountain Radio a e-mail. Maybe they can find my problem.

Dave, You seem to be having several problems with your setup. Describe the entire setup starting with what type of radio and how it is connected to the Blaster. I have this Blaster also but have not needed it because of the direct connection with just a USB cable to my newer Icoms. I know that the Blaster connects to the PC via the USB. The Blaster has PTT and audio I/O with pots for audio (TX/RX) gain settings. When I had my Blaster connected to a IC756P3 I modified the connection to use the ACCY DIN jack instead of the MIC jack, MIC jack should never be used. What is the slider setting in the input audio properties for the Blaster? On any tab for this audio input is there a AGC checkbox? Well Bruce I have the Rig Blaster connected to the computer as a USB port or course. The rig Blaster is connected to my Alinco DX 70TH. Then I have have WSjt-X with the audio in and out as Rig Blaster USB. Ever since I upgraded my WSJT-X I have had this problem. I cannot reduce to audio in as tho the Rig Baster is no connected. I wish some one could log into my system with Team viewer and look at the problem.
Tnx for the reply. Dave NU4N

Helped him out. TX-70 rig and is using Mic/Spkr jacks with RigBlaster Advantage.Turned off all preamps....RigBlaser Rx to zero....Windows recording to zero...That gave him around 70dB on the WJST-X meter which works well for FT8 (AGC is keeping the signal in check). Mike W9MDB

Mike, There is a quirky thing about this Alinco. On page 5-1 at the bottom it indicates to use a resistor plug inline with the audio out when using headphones. I take this as meaning an attenuator. http://www.alinco.com/pdffiles/Instruction/Mobile/dx70insweb.zipIf he uses one then he can reduce the RX audio to a lower value on the bargraph in WSJT-X. Thing is you don't need to reduce to a lower level. We did some extensive testing a few weeks ago and found that slow AGC works very well with digital modes such that the audio wave form is a bit around half-scale (we used -6dB as the target point). It's been decoding everything we can see without skipping a beat. I know the manual recommends a minimum of 30dB to overcome quantization error. And without AGC doing the level at 70db high would risk clipping a big signal. But the AGC is working without adjusting anything on all bands at all noise levels and still keeps the signal in proper range. And more digital resolution can only be better as long as you aren't clipping the audio. Mike W9MDB
