Have a new laptop with only one 3.5mm input for my Rig Blaster P&P which requires two. Utilizing a USB external soundcard to remedy the issue of only one 3.5mm input.
Loaded WSJT-X version 2.5.4-win64 onto the laptop. I utilize FT8 only. All the settings in WSJT-X were adjusted as to mirror those on my desktop PC. Laptop OS is Windows 11.
Of course, utilizing an external soundcard and Windows 11 on the laptop I did adjust the playback and recording sound settings as to what West Mountain Radio recommended. Transmit side is good, I can tune and adjust PO on my FT-818 rig. Receive side not so much. I am seeing green bars going up and down on the recording tab in Windows 11 which indicates I am receiving incoming signal in the laptop. But there is no indication of reception on the waterfall nor anything on the band activity. It's as if the receive side is bad. Any advice is much appreciated.

On new laptops the 3.5 inch socket is most probley a 4 pin, you need to get a  3.5  4pin to 2 x 3.4pin inputs to give you access to the audio in and out. this breakout adapter can be got from most mobile phone shops

i hope that helps

You probably need an adapter like this one:

Robert .. he's using a separate USB soundcard so I don't think that
adapter would be needed.   Besides, it would connect to the 'default'
built-in soundcard, which is not a good idea to use as it gets all the
Windows sounds.   If he uses a third party program such as JT Alert, you
would not want audio alerts going there either.

Using the external USB Soundcard is a good idea.

John,

May I suggest that you increase the output gain (if possible) on USB
soundcard to see if that helps.

Neil,

yes, I know.
I possibly misunderstood, there are external sound cards which have one TRSS plug instead of two TRS plugs.
