Good Morning Gentlemen,
I try on this group because elsewhere I could not solve the problem.
I cannot get my ICOM IC-9700 to work with WSJTX.
I premise that:
- the radio talks to the pc (verified through the CS-9700 program);
- I use WSJT-X regularly with my Icom IC-7300 (so I'm not totally unfamiliar with it);
- The COM port is correct;
I have followed all sorts of tutorials on YouTube to no avail;
the problem is not just mine: I have some friends with the same problem.

I think there is some problem in the radio settings rather than on wsjt-x and I can't figure out which ones.

The idea is to be able to use FT8 & co. via Oscar 100.

Any nontrivial suggestions is really appreciated (I have tried every single one).

Don't know if it will help, but I'm emailing you a saved settings file that I just made on my radio. Email have version numbers, etc.

This thread originally had an Icom hashtag but was removed in your reply. Please do not remove hashtags. You might not use them but others do.

Maybe the place to put these hashtags is in a suitable X- header, then
they're accessible to all and unlikely to be removed if someone decides
to edit a subject. I don't know if groups.io can do this but as someone
who doesn't use the web interface I have no knowledge of the use of
these tags per se.

The subject should not be edited.
It starts a new topic, it gets confusing reading either email or web interface.

I configure WSJT-X as follows using a connected USB cable.
In WSJT-X
Radio Tab Rig = Icom-9700 , Cat Control = COM6 (may vary on your PC) , Baud rate 115200, PTT method = RTS, Port Com6 Mode check Data/PKT, Split = check Fake It
Audio Tab = Input USB Audio Codec, Output USB Audio Codec
Frequencies - add your favorite FT8 2M and 70cm frequency.
In IC-9700 enabled the USB Com port to 115200 baud and trigger PTT via RTS.

When I launch WSJT-X it changes the radio to the 2M FT8 frequency and sets to USB-D.

Exactly what isn't working? Can you receive, can you PTT, does it send a tone when you click Tune in WSJT-X?

Do you have separate configurations in WSJTX for the 7300 and 9700? I have the same two rigs working well with WSJTX this way.

Yes I have.
I sum up the situation:
3 radios:
IC-7300
IC-9700 "Local"
IC-9700 "QO-100"

all connected with the same pc
IC-7300 and IC-9700 "local" matched with WSJT-X
Ic-9700 "QO-100" not.
I compared the settings of the 2 9700 and are the same.
But one talk with wsjt-x, the other not.

Why?

Without knowing what settings you have already set, it's difficult to know what is "nontrivial" and you suggest you've tried everything already, so again, it's difficult to help without appearing to be 'trivial'.

A number of people, myself included, have set the IC9700 to work with WSJT-X and other programs, so it is possible, but you have to work through all the settings and make sure that you have them set up correctly, then save them to the Preset Memory so that you can load them up again, but you probably already know this if you use the IC7300. Sometimes it's just a case of working through the settings logically and making sure that the basics are correct, which might seem to be 'trivial' but it's surprising how you can think you have everything set correctly, untill you check back again and find you've missed something obvious. I ended up writing all my settings in WSJT-X and on the radio down and keep refering to it when things stop working to find what needs to be reset to what I thought I'd set, but somehow got changed...

I have an IC7300 and an IC9700 and can use both of them with WSJT-X. Other than the usual settings, have you tried "Unlink from [REMOTE]" in the CI-V settings? That will let you manually set the CI-V USB Baud rate to either the value you have set in WSJT-X or to "Auto" to let the radio search for the correct value (Some people find setting a baud rate is best, some people use Auto) and switch off "Echo Back". I use "Link to [REMOTE] (this greys out the CI-V USB Baud Rate and Echo Back) then I set CI-V Data Baud Rate to the value I use in the WSJT-X settings and CI-V DATA Echo Back to 'OFF'. However, it will work with Unlink from [REMOTE] and CI-V USB Baud Rate on 'Auto' and Echo Back set to 'OFF' as that's how I run it on the IC7300 because I used a contest logging program with the IC7300 that would not work with Link To [REMOTE] set and I tend to leave it that way, so try both set-ups and see which works best for you. Also, I tend to have CI-V Transceive set to 'ON', again some other programs do not like this setting, but it works with WSJT-X for me.

By non-trivial answers I meant things like "did you check the right COM port?"



In any case, these are the CI-V settings for both of my IC-9700s. I remember that one works perfectly with WSJT-X while the other does not (as I told set are the same).

Of course, to avoid triviality, for each I select a different COM port each time (each has its own, or rather its two) and dedicated audio CODECs.



I should add that by changing the CI-V address of the one that does not communicate with the program nothing changes respect to the dialogue with WSJT-X.



Menu CONNECTORS

Sub-menu CI-V Settings:



Baud rate: AUTO

CI-V Address: A4h

CI-V Transceiver: ON

USB/Lan… *REMOTE transceiver address: 00h
IV-V USB Port: unlink from [REMOTE]

CI-V Baud Rate: Auto

CI-V Baud Echo Back: OFF

CI-V DATA Baud Rate: 19200

CI-V DATA Echo Back: OFF

That could be the problem, the standard Icom address for the IC9700 is A2h and I think that's the address that WSJT-X will be looking for.

Just for comparision here's my settings on my IC9700
CI-V
Baud Rate = 19200
Address = A2h
Transceive = ON
USB/LAN - REMOTE Transceive Address 00h
DATA Baud Rate = 19200
DATA Echo Back ON

Sorry, I missed a setting - USB Port Link to [REMOTE]
That greys ot the next two settings, but I have used Unlink to [REMOTE] with
CI-V Baud Rate 19200
CI-V Echo Back OFF

It works with both settings, as I said in my original reply, some contest logging programs need Transceive off and Unlink to [REMOTE] but WSJT-X doesn't seem to miind which way round it's set.
