Locked search receive window #EnhancementReqest

It would be nice to be able to right click in the receive window to search for a call sign or country, could this be considered for a future version?

The problem with that idea is the scrolling will interfere since FT8 is just a 15-second window.

If you're on Windows JTAlert has a Decodes window that you can filter by callsign. And you can also put in a Wanted call to alert you and persist. Mike W9MDB On Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 06:55:15 AM CDT, Richard Van Doel <ny1v@...> wrote:

Mike, I wanted to post this same question, and first I looked to see if the question had already been raised. Glad I found this topic. My follow-up to your eminently sensible comment would be this. It seems to me that someone wanting to search either the receive or the band activity window (the latter is of special interest to me) is not interesting in continuing to monitor activity while doing the search. So could a search command simply stop the monitoring and then execute the search? Another approach that would work well for me would be to have some kind of simple command (maybe context menu via right-click) to copy the whole window contents to the clipboard. Then I could open Notepad or some such, paste the text and search away to my heart's content. I don't think that color coding would have to be included, though I can see how some users might want the colors preserved. If the color coding is easily convertible to rich-text format, then maybe it could be preserved easily enough by using a rich-text-capable program to do the searching. Of course, JTAlert provides a lot of functionality that WSJT-X doesn't need to try to duplicate. But if there's an easy way to provide a rudimentary version of a useful function within the core program (such as the Logger provides), many users will appreciate the simplicity of having that function available without having to go to the extra work to install and climb the learning curve for an add-on of some sort. Not trying to insist on anything here; just giving one user's perspective for whatever it's worth. Randy, WS4C |

Just click on the Band Activity window use shortcuts Ctrl-A and Ctrl-C. That will copy contents of the window. Then you may paste it into Notepad or whatever you wish to use. The color coding is a totally different issue to copy. You may also copy the Rx Frequency window contents by the same mechanism. Actually the latest window focus is remembered and you may just start with the Ctrl-A for selection. 73, Reino |

Thanks, Reino. I remember now that I actually did that once some weeks ago and was happy to find that I was able to do it. Somehow in the meanwhile I forgot. That's adequate for me, if searching within the window isn't easily implemented.
