Locked No Transmit power or ALC on IC 7300 #Cat_RigControl

OK, so I've been banging my head against the wall over this. Everything was working perfectly fine and then my radio stopped showing transmit power (receiving just fine) and no ALC even after I adjusted the mic gain. I can key the radio up using WSJT-X and the red transmit light comes on and the fan kicks on but no indication of transmit power. I tested the radio and made sure it was transmitting on other modes and it was showing power output on SSB and RTTY. And I was able to make contacts on phone with good signal reports. I've gone thru the configuation of both the radio and WSJT-X multiple times but could have missed something I suppose. I was using Mac logger DX but have put WSJT-X back to the original configuration before Mac logger DX. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Here is my setup:
Computer: iMac (late 2015)
IOS: Monterey version 12.4
WSJT-X: v2.5.4
Transceiver: Icom 7300

Check your audio midi settings and make sure you haven’t muted your audio out

What is your "MOD Input " in your rig (I don't know what the 7300 calls it but the 705 uses this) Set>Connectors>MOD Input > set DATA OFF MOD to USB (or USB,mic) and set DATA MOD to USB.

I know there are some other rig settings in the Connectors group but I don't know what they are for the 7300. If you haven't set them....that's probably your problem. You have to tell your rig how to receive the modulating signal from the computer.

I thought I sent a reply but I must have messed it up.

I probably won't solve your problem but you didn't mention anything about your rig settings. I don't own an IC-7300 but there is some commonality with the IC-705. You probably have something like this on your rig.....Set >Connectors>MOD Input which should be set for DATA MOD OFF = either USB or USB, Mic and DATA MOD = USB (I'm assuming you are using a USB cable)

You can set USB MOD Level to something like 50% to start. I've read in the past that you should set it down around 20% but since you are missing modulation...start high into a dummy load and then set it lower once you find the modulation.
You never mentioned if the wsjt-x program was decoding signals or whether your waterfall display was showing signals. If not make sure that in Connectors, the AF Output Level is set to at least 50%.

There are several more settings in the Connectors group but I don't know what they are for the IC-7300 but if you just google IC-7300 settings for WSJT-X, I'm certain you will find them.

In WSJT-X Audio settins, you need to select Microphone USB Audio CODEC for the input and Speaker USB Audio CODEC for Output.

You also need to adjust the Pwr slider on the right edge of WSJT-X main page. Start at the top and if it's too high(too much audio drive) lower it.

If you still don't have drive, open the Audio Midi App and check to see if there are two USB Audio CODECS listed. Select the one with one or two outputs and on the right side of the app window verify that they aren't muted. The Audio CODEC with inputs isn't controllable on my mac.

You'll need to track down those other Connector settings.

Good luck

Had a similar problem with my FT1000MP MKV when the sreen saver started to work (using two monitors on my W11 notebook). This happened with 2.6.0-rc2. After restarting WSJT-X everything was fine again. As this happened to be a standarf problem I disabled my screen saver now. Might be that this could help you.

I checked my midi settings and the audio is not muted.

So, I had the DATA MOD OFF set to Mic, ACC. I changed it to USB and still nothing. The DATA MOD is set to USB.

I found this online. I can't verify since I don't own a 7300.

IC-7300 digital modes/FT8 setup
WSJT-X Radio tab

Serial Port: /dev/cu.SLAB_USBtoUART
Baud Rate: 115200
Data Bits: Eight
Stop Bits: Two
Handshake: None
Force Control Lines: (Leave both empty)
PTT Method: CAT
Mode: Data/PKT
Split operation: Rig

WSJT-X Audio tab

Input/Output set to the 7300's USB device

WSJT-X Waterfall + Main Window

Bins/Pixel: 4
Start: 200-300 Hz
N Avg: 2
Palette: Digipan or to taste
Cumulative
Flatten: unchecked
Ref Spec: unchecked
Spec 30%
Sliders on default/center except upper-right adjust to taste, usually ~30%
Pwr slider 100%

7300 rig settings

Mode: USB-D
Filter Bandwidth set to widest possible (3.6k), sharp falloff
Function menu: AGC, NR, NB, Notch, Preamps, Vox, etc all turned off
Display typically set to waterfall + Meter
Set -> Connectors:
ACC/USB Output Select: AF
ACC/USB AF Output Level: 10-30% (adjust as needed for band, noise level)
ACC/USB AF SQL: Off (Open)
ACC/USB AF Beep: Off
ACC/USB IF Output Level: 50%
ACC Mod Level: 50%
USB Mod Level: 40%
Data Off Mod: MIC,ACC
Data Mod: USB
CI-V:
CI-V Baud Rate: Auto
CI-V Address: 94h
CI-V Transceive: ON
CI-V USB->Remote Transceive Address: 00h
CV-V Output (for ANT): Off
CI-V Baud Port: Unlink from [REMOTE]
CI-V USB Baud Rate: 115200
CI-V USB Echo Back: On
USB Serial Function: CI-V
RTTY Decode Baud Rate: 19200
USB Send/Keying: All Off except Inhibit Timer

Mac OS Settings

Applications->Utilities->Audio Midi Setup->USB Audio Codec 1: Left/Right both set to approximately -9.0db, adjust as needed while monitoring ALC levels on the rig. ALC should be at about 1/2 to 3/4 while transmitting. Some experimentation and outside verification (Web SDRs?) needed to make sure you're not overdriving the audio.

Alright, it's working again! So, I went through the settings on WSJT-X and the 7300 again and made some minor adjustments on the levels as some suggested. I went as far as unplugging my USB connection and re-connected it. Then after doing that I started getting an error for the sound output. So I went into the MIDI controls on the Mac and adjusted the output and made sure it wasn't muted (it was not). After doing all that I finally got a little bit of power registering on my meter. At that point, I just adjusted the levels on the radio. I appreciate the assistance from everyone, I sure learned a lot about WSJT-X the past couple of days. Thanks again.

Ok, I thought I replied to the tread. I don't know what happened, but, it's working again! After I did that I started to receive an error for the audio output. I went into the MIDI controls on the Mac and made sure they weren't muted (they were not).
