Locked can' t start #Windows10

Pete Smith

I'm returning to WSJT after several years and a number of versions. Downloaded 2.5.4 and installed it in C:\WSJT-X. Ran the installer, apparently successfully, and tried to run the program. Both windows come up, but in a few seconds the "arrow" Windows cursor changes to an "hourglass", and in about 10 seconds after that the program crashes.

What am I doing wrong, and how do I fix it?

Not knowing what the last version you used, I'd head to the
C:\users\<yourname>\AppData\Local directory, and then delete the WSJT-X
directory there.   Where <yourname> is the username you use on your
computer.

I'd then reinstall the program, and try again.  This will clear out the
settings.  You'll probably have to setup the program again for your rig,
sound card, etc, but it will eliminate one possible issue, a bad
configuration file.

Had a lot of trouble deleting the files, because Windows kept insisting that there were files open in JT9.  Finally got around that and I'm back to setting it up from scratch.  At least it stays open now. Thanks.

Hi Pete,

If windows says files are open, reboot.

Problem solved, thanks.  I had to delete the associated files, uninstall WSJT, and reinstall
