Locked No output from sound card #Icom #Windows10
Kurt Rieger K2NNJ
Windows 10 pro operating system
Wsjtx was working fine with ft-991a, expanded work area, new radio and new larger desk so ask equipment disconnected, cleaned and cabling strighted out. After putting everything back together equipment appeared to operate correctly except no output with wsjtx. All settings appear to be correct except no audio. Problem is the input does not change from microphone to rear. Radio is in transmit but Mic is still input, tap on Mic and full output in wsjtx. Set up new radio (ic7300) and have EXACTLY. Same problem. Updated wsjtx to latest and greatest, checked sound devices on computer, everything appears to check good, looking for suggestions. Thanks K2NNJ |

For the IC-7300 make sure you use Data/Pkt mode and the recently added FT8 mode on the rig. Mike W9MDB On Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 08:57:33 PM CDT, Kurt Rieger <lildak48@...> wrote:

You didn't indicate what mode you have the 991a set for. I believe you should be using DATA-USB, not USB when your using the rear connector. Check that.

What mode do you have the 7300 set to?
It must be SSB-D (Thee D is for data) How many pips are you seeing on your ALC meter when you transmit? What happened when you used the TX "Test " option in WSJT-X? What approach did you use to adjust the Audio Output setting in Windows for the ICOM Audio CODEC in Windows? Which version of Windows are you running? Ron - KJ5XX |

Mike :
You said "All settings appear to be correct except no audio" what exactly does that mean? An ICOM 7300 is not a 991a and the setup is a bit different. On the Radio Screen, starting from the top, what are your settings for the 7300? If you wouldn't mind please send me your email address. I have some info that has been very helpful to others in getting through setup & may be helpful to you as well. ron@... Ron - KJ5XX |

Same issue as Kurt on same day. Victim of W10 update? All settings in WSJT-X and the 7300 are the same as they were before the computer power-up.

Agree, a 991-a is totally different from 7300. The 991-a was working perfectly since May, all functions!. My shack space was getting moor crowed and needed work. I purchased a new ic7300 and before unboxing the new rig i rebuilt and enlarged my desk. I dismantled the equipment, installed the new furniture and reassembled the station. Tested the equipment and had no problems with non digital operation. Went to operate wsjt and noted no output but it was in transmit. I moved the Mic and saw power out. The Mic was active, not the rear input. I rechecked and everything appears correct. Spent several hours troubleshooting but found nothing.
Turing to the ic7300, I down loaded the driver and set that up. The cat and ptt worked correctly and received and decoded. Went to tune and had no output. Almost immediately check the Mic and found that it was active. Two different rigs same problem. Once again, appreciate abt help Kurt. K2NNJ |

Wow, thought it was only me. I have a slow Acer with a cheap AMD CPU, $150 laptop from Walmart bought 7 years ago and all this time it worked fine with my K3 and KPA500. After the W10 update last month, no output. I've played with the output/input settings on both the laptop and K3 without success.

Thank you for the tutorial. Followed it carefully for all the settings. With data/pkt selected every time I hit test the rig goes into rtty. Rechecking everything is correct. Any further suggestions?

Please try the latest hamlib. I assume you are talking about a K3?

New hamlib for installation directions #1 Shut down WSJTX/JTDX #2 Download either the 32-bit or 64-bit DLL matching the 32/64-bit version of WSJTX/JTDX -- hopefully your browser doesn't block it but may warn you multiple times. If you can do a "Save As" you can save it directly in \WSJT\WSJTX\bin and replace the libhamlib-4.dll that is there. http://n0nb.users.sourceforge.net/dll32/libhamlib-4.dll http://n0nb.users.sourceforge.net/dll64/libhamlib-4.dll Linux/Unix/Mac users need to compile the latest tar file from http://n0nb.users.sourceforge.net/\ Note: If compiling on Unix-like systems please uninstall any Hamlib package you have before installing the new build #3 If you don't save directly you need to open a file browser and move the file that way. If you're not familiar with that here's a video on the file browser - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyVqCJrs9dk Mike W9MDB On Sunday, July 17, 2022 at 03:11:28 PM CDT, Kurt Rieger <lildak48@...> wrote:

http://www.dxlabsuite.com/commander/download.htm And download the latest update, http://www.dxlabsuite.com/commander/Commander1544Update.exe Install in a folder like this, C:\Ham Apps\Commander When complete, run Commander only and click on the Config button to setup the General and Ports tabs. Select IC7300 and CI-V of 94 on the General tab then config the Ports tab for the com port and baud, 8, N, 1, OFF, OFF. In WSJT-X select instead of IC7300 select DX Labs Commander. Commander will now be the interface between WSJT-X and the IC7300. I use Commander for the interface and also to test com port connections. Now see if instead of RTTY being shown on the 7300 screen you see USB-D mode. Commander overrides Hamlib totally, Commander is now in control.
