Locked Windows 11 and audio [mic] problems with ic-7610 #windows11 #Icom

I'm having intermittent [mostly all the time] issues where audio input coming in from my ic-7610 is either too high [clipping red] or to low. There seems to be no happy medium.. most of the time. Sometimes, it just works. Anyone else have this issue? I know how to set up the radio, it works fine with my windows 10 laptop and my mac laptop. It's something wonky in windows 11 I suspect. Computer is a dell all in one with amd ryzen, literally brand new. I've reinstalled windows 11 to no avail. When I "monitor" the input and output it to the onboard speakers it sounds like a skipping cd. Oh BTW, this happens on my ic-9700 also. Same exact issue, but only on the windows 11 pc.

Is it possible Win11 has enabled any kind of audio processing? Check that audio enhancements (especially echo cancelling) are turned off.

Hi Brent,
I was having sort of the same issue with my 7610 on Win 10. So, first... set your RF Gain to straight up 12 o'clock. Next, on the 7610 - go to Menu>SET>CONNECTORS>MOD INPUT>.... on USB MOD Level - try setting it to about 30 instead of the factory 50 settings, this will provide less gain into the USB to the computer and help stop the input to wsjtx from 'bouncing" up and down. Your mileage may vary, so try 25 or 20... until you get a good balance. Hope this helps! 73 - John - N7GHZ |
