I'm running Mint 20.3 and have installed WSJT-X 2.5.4, but there's nothing available to select in either of the sound card drop-downs. The ft-991 was connected via USB prior to starting wsjt-x, and the system sees the usb devices and the sound card, but wsjt-x does not. Rig control via flrig works and fldigi sees the rig's sound card when I run it, but I can't figure out why wsjt-x doesn't. I'm at a loss where to start with troubleshooting this. My gut's telling me the devices are showing up in a directory that's different than where the program expects them, but since I don't know where that is, I'm stuck.

Try to install libqt5multimedia5-plugins and see if that helps.

here I got success with

sudo groupadd mymainuser audio

after that everything works (also for js8call)

1 as "mymainuser" submit command "groups"
2 control if group "audio" is in th list
3. if not usbmit the above command "sudo grpuoadd..."
4. logout and login in again to be member of group audio
That was it for me : wsjtx2.5.4 and ubuntu 2204
