Locked Yaesu DX10 Codec audio Problem #WSJTX_config
Problem with dx10 and wsjtx codec audio driver ?
Firstly let me explain, I have 2 choices in that I have a codec mic driver and a codec line driver of which when I select the codec Mic driver it stops and band activity (nothing is being decoded), also it does not transmit, The radio does transmit with the light showing but no power is being transmitted. When I select the codec line driver, yes it does decode in the band activity but does not transmit, it is the same as the Codec mic driver, yes it shows on the radio that it is transmitting but nothing coming out power wise? I have read that there is a problem where they have renamed the codec drivers from mic to line? So just wondered if any fellow DX10 owners had had a similar problem and if so, what they did to correct this, (any menu setting would be greatly appreciated) Just wondered if it would be best to uninstalled and then reinstall it. (It was working fine on a 7610?) Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. #Sorry if not correctly posted as this is my first post, Please be gentle. |

Problem with dx10 and wsjtx codec audio driver ?The DX10 is a new TRX for you? What Firmware Version is installed and what Mode are you using? Hit the Mode Button and if you see PRESET, select USB and PRESET. If there is no PRESET Mode, install the newest Firmware. With PRESET, the Radio is ready for DIGI Modes via USB. You can also use DATA-U, but you have to change some Settings. But check one Setting for the PRESET Mode (Long Press on PRESET). Change RPORT GAIN to 40 and adjust your Output Power with the Power Slider in WSJTX. |

I am using USB for my CAT and Audio between the pc and the ftdx10. WSJT
version 2.5.4, and the ftdx is the latest versions as found on the yaesu site. WSJT From Settings>Audio I have INPUT > "LINE USB Audio Codec" OUTPUT> " SPEAKERS USB Audio Codec" As Heinz mentioned, make sure PRESET is Selected. You will notice PRESET turns blue and activated. Also USB must be the mode. I just used the standard preconfig settings in "PRESET", as found on page 65 in the manual. I didn't have to change any of these settings. My RPORT GAIN is set to 10, as in the manual. I have no idea what this means or does. My RPORT GAIN is set to 10, as in the manual. I have no idea whatOff Topic because it's more DX10 related. That's the Rear USB Port Audio Level Input Gain. Without Preset, the Level is set to 50. With Preset, it's set to 10 for whatever Reason. Doesn't make really sens to me. With the Level set to 10, the Audio Codec on the PC needs more Output as with 50, to arrive the same HF Power Level. With Data-U and Rport Gain to 50, less Audio Gain from the PC is needed. Same when changing the Setting for the Preset. Some Time ago, there was a discussion in one of the DX10 Groups about this. A few HAM's reported bad Harmonics with the Preset Mode and Rport Gain set to 10. You could see them in the AF-FFT Screen. They are gone with raising the Rport Gain in the Preset Settings above 40 and reducing the output of the USB Audio Codec Level on the PC. Not everyone could reproduce this. I had one at a very low Level above 3kHz, so only my Neighbor next Door would see them, but with the higher Rport Level, they are gone now. I think, it's not only the Rport Gain Level. The PC, the OS and the Audio Codec used by the OS will also play a Roll. But I think also, it's better to be in the middle Range of the Audio Output level and not at the higher Edge. Heinz-Juergen |

Heinz thanks for explanations. Have you looked at the ALC and COMP levels
on the S meter when transmitting ft8? My levels are close to when I transmit audio via SSB. Heinz thanks for explanations. Have you looked at the ALC and COMP levels ALC and Comp Level is at Zero when I TX in Digi Modes with low or normal Power (max 50 Watt) in Preset Mode. When I use Full Power, Comp Level is still at Zero and ALC kicks in, but way below the blue Line. Half of the white Line. Be sure to have MIC EQ and PROC LEVEL set to OFF when in Digi Modes. PRESET does not switch them to OFF. And set RF POWER to 100 Watt. The Output Power you want to use, is set with the Audio Level on the PC, the Power Slider in WSJT-X. If you reduce the RF POWER on the DX10 (or any other TRX) and your Audio Output from the PC is to High, ALC will kick in to reduce the RF Power to the chosen Level and in the worst Case, you will produce Distortion. My Settings when in Digi Mode: MIC GAIN 40 MIC EQ OFF PROC LEVEL OFF AMC LEVEL 60 For SSB, I only change MIC EQ and PROC LEVEL (when needed). RF POWER is always set to 100 Watt. Except the Frequencies, I have to use lower Power on. Heinz-Juergen DO1YHJ |
