locked error scanning adif log #adiFiles
Bill Parris
I know this has been covered many times in the past, but my problem continues. I have upgraded to the latest version, still have the error message. I have read all of the previous posts regarding fixing this. When I bring up the file in notepad, the header does not appear, just the first logging entry. How can I locate the header?

Do your wsjt_log.adi file possibly contains empty rows or a header line somewhere inside the file? In notepad you could search for <eoh> or some contents of the proposed header above. By the way I have in another wsjtx_log.adi file header "WSJT-X ADIF Export<eoh>". 73, Reino OH3mA

There's another file - wsjtx.log - in the same directory but this isn't the ADIF file that gets read by the software; my understanding is that the .log file simply records all the logging transactions rather than containing the logged QSOs themselves. -- Martin G0HDB

How do I open this file so I can modify it when necessary?Hi Tim, I have not ever found that problem. Which program you are using to open it? You may try to close wsjt-x before opening the wsjtx_log.adi. If you are using Windows and that happens, perhaps you should restart Windows. 73, Reino OH3mA

You have to shutdown wsjt to be able to open adi file.

I just installed WSJT-X v2.5.4 and I get the same behavior. When I try to
open the .adi file without WSJT-X running the program launches and if I try to open the .adi file it tells me that I have 2 instances running. I am still stuck. Tim,
Note that in the wsjt-x has no built-in editing capability of the wsjtx_log.adi file. You need to use a text editor such as Notepad for editing. 73, Reino OH3mA How are trying to open the log file?Try shutting down WSJT-X. This is why *in your* PC the extension .adi is managed by wsjt. Click the
file with right key and choose "Open with". You can open with Notepad and, if you want, set the notepad as standard opening of the adi file. Pietro,
I tried ur suggestion and opened the .adi file with notepad when WSJT-X was not running and it worked fine. I could swear that in the past I could just open the file from within WSJT-X while it was running but the problem is solved now. Thanks all for the help.
