I have an FT818ND and can receive perfectly ok but no matter what I do I cannot get any Audio from the Computer through the SCU-17 to the Radio. I have been to the Supplier of the set and they have given me some settings. What I am after are the settings for the Radio to enable me to use it as intended.

this extract from some notes I prepared a while ago for my FT-817ND (of which the FT-818 is a clone with more recent componentry) may prove helpful:

Configuration


Radio

Most modern data communications software assumes that the radio employed is using *USB*, whether above or below 10MHz.

For the FT-817 the correct mode is *DIG*, which should^1 <#sdfootnote1sym> be pre-configured, using *menu #26*, to *PSK31-U*.

*As an alternative^2 <#sdfootnote2sym>*, configure the FT-817 with mode as *DIG*, which must be pre-configured, using *menu #26*, to *USER-U*. The *DIG SHIFT* in *menu #27* should be set to *0Hz*. Ensure that *menu #24*, *DIG DISP*, is set to *0Hz*.


Interconnect hardware

Besides that already described for setting levels, there is little interconnect hardware configuration required.


Software

Most data software will already have built-in capabilities for CAT control with an FT-817. The remaining concern is level setting, as described in /*Level setting (TX)*/ above.
