Locked "Pwr" Slider Acting Goofy in WSJT-X v2.5.3 #macOS #Icom #IssueReport

Tony Hackenberg

Yesterday (12/21/2021), after upgrading from WSJT-X version 2.5.2 to 2.5.3, the "Pwr" Slider on the WSJT-X's main window is acting "goofy." I reverted back to the prior version (2.5.2) and the Pwr slider works fine. Repeatedly trying the newer version (2.5.3) results in the Pwr slider acting goofy. Repeatedly returning to the prior version (2.5.2) fixes the problem and the power slider behaves normally.

Here are more details about the Pwr slider's goofy behavior in WSJT-X version 2.5.3. Initially, when starting this version, the power slider may be positioned normally. In my case, this is about 3 tick marks down from the slider's top most setting (gain about -7 dB). However, the minute I mouse click on that slider's position, the slider's pointer jumps down to the bottom (about 2-3 ticks from the slider's bottom-most setting). Thereafter, while trying to slide the Pwr slider, it's pointer acts really erratic. At first, I though v2.5..3 may have reversed the Pwr Slider (i.e. now the bottom was maximum instead of the top). Trying to drag and slide the Pwr slider's pointer is chaotic.

Perhaps, others are experiencing that goofy Pwr slider behavior in version 2.5.3. For now, I'll just revert back to ONLY using WSJT-X v2.5.2 until a workaround or fix is provided.

My configuration:
Relevant ham gear & computer hardware:
ICOM IC-7610
Connected via the rig's USB port to the computer
Apple MacBook Pro laptop (Intel-based, 16")
Relevant software:
Mac OS 12.1 (aka Monterey)
WSJT-X version 2.5.2 (Pwr slider works fine)
WSJT-X version 2.5.3 (Pwr slider "goofy" & "twitchy")

HAPPY HOLIDAYS & 73,

If you click on it and then use the up/down arrow keys does it work as expected?

I'm having the same issue with 2.5.3 on a Mac mini running OS 12.1 (intel based system). Also, If you click and hold while dragging the PWR slider it moves opposite the direction of the mouse. Also noticed it does not retain the transmit power setting from one transmission cycle to the next.

Reinstalled 2.5.2 and everything returned to normal.

Thanks for all you do and Merry Christmas!

Mine is acting the same way. This problem appeared many versions ago and was fixed . I think the “fix” got lost in this version.
