Locked What is 'AP'? #mainscreen #decode

We had a discussion on Pingjockey this morning regarding 'Enable AP' in the decode menu for various modes. It's only mentioned in the manual in the section on JT65, but not explained. I found no explanation here on the group. Could someone offer an explanation of what it is and when it should be used or not?

Thanks!

John,

perhaps you should consider searching the WSJT-X User Guide when you need this sort of information?

Hi John,

Have look on section 12.1. AP Decoding of the User Guide. It improves sensitivity by 2 to 4 dB, see https://physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/k1jt/FT4_FT8_QEX.pdf.

Hi John,

If you simply Google "WSJT-X AP decoding" you can click on the first entry, the WSJT-X Guide. In its list of contents, you click on the line "12.1 AP Decoding".

There is described the "a priori" (AP) decoding.

73 and good luck from Tom, LA4LN

Did you check the User's Guide ??  The information is listed there:

I did a search of the guide for 'Enable AP' and only found the reference in the JT65 section. I always so my homework! I'll look at the other section.
