Just a historic tidbit. I used to work with a fellow, Ralph Dickerson, who worked for the Navy out of Dahlgren Virginia. He was the one who traveled around the world with an atomic clock performing the initial synchronization of the GPS ground station clocks. He also helped install some of the ground stations. They would load the aircraft so heavy in Dahlgren that it could only carry enough fuel for the short hop to Patuxent River Naval base where they could top off the tanks and the longer runways allowed the aircraft to take off with the max+ load.
