Locked CAT problem on Yaesu FT-920 on 20m #Cat_RigControl

Phil Davidson

Excellent result.  Well done.

If you fancy something different in digital mode have a look at Olivia, SSTV and Hell.

For software try FLDIGI (free) and MixW (preferably V2 or 3 as 4 is a mess)

Good luck - Phil

Every amateur radio operator should have a 50 ohm dummy load as part of their station.  Issues like this could be easily proven.

When using WSJTX to operate FT8 on 40, 80 and 160 meter, I have no
issues. When I try to transmit on 30, 20, 17 and 15m, I get a CAT
error. It either shows that it cannot verify VFO or PTT state and
wants me to configure the radio settings again.I am running Windows

night. I tried searching for a resolution, but could not locate one.

The frequency is being set by the software. I am in vfo mode for all bands and have data with usb set. I am receiving great. It's only when I go to transmit on 20, 17, and 15 that it starts to transmit, but the CAT control connection is lost momentarily. One the rig stops transmitting, the control is restored.

Hi Scott,

Also common mode choking on the CAT cable may help on RFI. Multiple turn through a ferrite ring could do the job.

Hi Scott,

rig control issues that only occur on some bands are invariably due to
RFI issues. Try reducing power to minimum, using a diferent aerial, or
dummy load to verify if RFI is causing the problem.

When using WSJTX to operate FT8 on 40, 80 and 160 meter, I have no issues. When I try to transmit on 30, 20, 17 and 15m, I get a CAT error. It either shows that it cannot verify VFO or PTT state and wants me to configure the radio settings again.I am running Windows 7 64bit. I am brand new to FT8 and just starting using it last night. I tried searching for a resolution, but could not locate one.
