Every amateur radio operator should have a 50 ohm dummy load as part of their station. Issues like this could be easily proven.

cause RFI! I have not even tried to transmit yet. I am just
trying to get rig control to work on receive. Then I will work on
transmitting but if I can't control the rig on receive then it is
a lead pipe cinch I won't be able to control it for transmit so
that can't be the problem, at least not yet.

The frequency is being set by the software. I am in vfo mode for all bands and have data with usb set. I am receiving great. It's only when I go to transmit on 20, 17, and 15 that it starts to transmit, but the CAT control connection is lost momentarily. One the rig stops transmitting, the control is restored. the bands that you are having issues with. are they being set by the software or are you setting manually. are you in vfo A, and not in memory mode for those bands you have issues with and USB, not lower

Hi Scott, Also common mode choking on the CAT cable may help on RFI. Multiple turn through a ferrite ring could do the job. 73, Reino OH3mA
