Locked WSJT-X Crashing in RTTY Roundup FT4

Patrick Hung

I recall this being an issue in the FT Roundup a few weeks ago - I'm experiencing the same now in FT4, running version 2.2.2. Is there a fix?

Thanks.

Same situation here... Win 7 Ultimate, no other programs open...  FT8 is fine, FT4 has crashed 13 times in 4 hours............. VERY FRUSTRATING !!!!!!!

In the past, this issue was diagnosed as related to deep decoding and the workaround was to change Decode to Fast.  I don't know if that still works now or not but it is worth a try.  I have made a lot of FT4 contacts today with no crashes having 2.2.2 set that way.

I've had a few Crashes during the Roundup on FT4.  It seems to happen when I get multiple QSO's going on top of each other.  Where I think one is complete and move on to the next, then get another followup from the first QSO.  It also seems to scramble the RST values being logged.   I have slowed down to be sure each QSO is complete before jumping to the next one and so far so good.  73, Herb WB8ASI

As part of moving to a new computer, I've installed the latest version of WSJT-X on the new computer - let's see what happens today. If crashes recur, I'll change Decode to "Fast".

Thanks for the suggestions.

My humble report from RTTY Roundup running RC2, during about 15 hours I had no crashes at all. One or two logging challenges, when two or more QSOs interleaved I had manually correct and complete mainly received reports that were any more available in the automata i.e. belonging to the first QSO that was not yet completed and logged before the next QSO commenced due to pile-up. I am not very good in pile-ups, but for machine it is outside its scope.

Running V 2.2.2 since it came out almost entirely on FT8 with no problems.  Doing the RTTY Roundup on FT4 and had two sporadic problems.  First and most problematic was program would just shut down all by itselt and most of the time while contact in progress.  The second was that the program would get locked in decode mode which required exiting program and the relaunching.   Rebooted computer (windows 10) and even uninstalled and reinstalled wsjt-x but problem still there.

I had multiple crashes too.  After looking at the messages her I found a suggestion to change Deep decode to Normal for FT4 only. I did that and it still crashed.  First time I've seen it should be the Fast setting.  I lost a few contacts while I was in the middle of them.  After the program restart it's difficult to try to recover the previous one.

In 2.2.2 I found normal decode crashes too do I moved to fast. No crashes then.

I had sequence problems: when clicking on a CQ RU CALLSIGN the selected TX3 changed to TX2. When I got a reply to a TX2 my own sent report information was not forwarded to the QSO logging dialog box. I also found when I sent a CQ without first clicking TX3, it would do the same.

That's what I did. I was in the Mixed category.  I used N1MM with the built-in FLDIGI decoder for RTTY and WSJT v2.3.0-RC2 for the FT modes on a Windows 7 box.  I had 888 QSOs in 23 hours and it was rock solid, no crashes.  Everything worked great, except once in a while WSJT would "forget" the exchange information if someone replied 3 or 4 cycles after I called them.  That forced me to scroll up through the decode window to get the report I had sent them, then manually enter it into the Log-this-QSO dialog box.
