Locked Error - entry point not found ?

I get the attached error message twice on WSJT-X startup - close it twice, the program runs.
Not there on WSJT 10. Only started 2.2.2

Hi Jay,

maybe you did not shut down WSJT-X before you ran the v2.2.2 installer. Try running the installer again, make sure WSJT-X is not running before you do.

Hi Jay,

this issue has all the symptoms of WSJT-X being installed while a previous version is still running. Please try a system restart followed by reinstalling WSJT-X before doing anything else.

Hi Bill - I un-installed WSJT-x, rebooted my computer, downloaded WSJT-X  64-bit with same result.
However, I un-installed WSJT-x, rebooted my computer, downloaded WSJT-x 32-bit and NO error messages.
Repeated both processes, same results !

  1. Open a CMD window as an administrator. (right-click the Windows start button and select Command Prompt (Admin)).
  2. Type ‘SFC /scannow’ and hit Enter.
  3. Allow the process time to complete.
  4. This might help try this

Jay,

I'm not sure what you are doing, but it's not what I asked. Start a CMD prompt and enter the command I gave, it should look something like this:

If it does find the requested DLL then that may be the cause of the problem you are having.

Jay,

the MS System File Checker is unlikely to find any issues with third-party libraries or applications. That's not its purpose.

Hi Again Bill - tried
where Qt5Core.dll
again - when I hit enter,I get a small black screen displayed for only 100 ms or so - cant read it - and then disappears !
Note that if I run 2.2.2 32bit, no error messages...only 64bit version.

Jay

Did you try again what Bill posted? and what was result?

Unless it’s a typo on your message there is a space missing SFC  /scannow  (Space between SCF and the /Scan..)

Hi Tom - yes the system scan runs now with the space added.
As far as Bills suggestion - In Windows 7 -  I dont get a "COMMAND  PROMPT" screen by right-clicking the START menu - I am using the RUN screen which I assume is the same thing ?
Anyhow, when I type in
where Qt5Core.dll
I get a small black screen which I cant read because it displays for only 100 ms or so and then disappears !

Jay,

Type "cmd" in the "Run" box.
That gets you to the Command Window.

hello Alan - you found my dumb error - when I go to the cmd screen and enter
where Qt5Core.dll
I got " C:\JTDX\JTDX\bin\Qt5Core.dll"
so - un-installed JTDX, re-ran "Qt5Core.dll" and now got "could not find file"
Ok so far - rebooted computer, opened WSJT-X, same error message - comes up 2x then opens WSJT-X.
Any other ideas ?

Hi Jay,

OK, I think the problem is that the JTDX installation bin directory is on your PATH environment variable. That's not going to work if you have multiple applications installed that use different versions of some DLLs. You should not need either the WSJT-X nor the JTDX installations on your PATH environment variable, all that does is allows you to start the applications from a Cmd prompt without specifying a path to the executable.
