Locked Downloading latest versions of WSJT-X

Arthur Bernstein

Greetings,

I’ve been using WSJT-X Version 2.1.0  for a while and as far as my semi IT savvy mind goes, it seems to be working fine. I see there are more recent versions than this one, the latest being a Beta version. I notice many folks are complaining about difficulties after downloading this version. I’m unsure whether these problems are due to operator error or due to conflicts with other installed programs, such as logging programs, HRD or Signal Link devices or ???

My computer is running Win 10 64 bit with the latest upgrades from Microsoft, N1MM+ Logger, Logbook of the World (TQSL)-nothing fancy or exotic. Rig is an Elecraft K3.

Should I sit tight and wait for the official release date of V 2.1.2, which is allegedly June 1 or download any intermediary version or the Beta 2.1.2?

I’m receptive of any expert opinions.

Thanks.

Hi

I have downloaded the Beta version, and looked from my side there is not much different.

I did’t have issues to install it, it worked at once, I also have windows 10 64bit with Deluxe and a Icom 7600, and I send info to Eqsl/Lotw/TQSL/QRZ from Deluxe.

I also updated Deluxe and TQSL at the same time, only thing was that I need to press in a popup box that TQSL always should run as administrator after update TQSL.

Maybe stupid to update all at the same time, but I did that.

If you are not missing anything or something that is not working, maybe you should wait for real release.

The Beta release will stop working at 10 Jun at 00:00, then we need update once more.

FWIW ... v2.1.2 has been released since last November I believe?    What is happening now is the v2.2.0 Release Candidate 1 which has tweaked the FT8 decoder, along with WSPR and a few other things, and bugfixes.

What you are seeing is the usual issue when you have any release candidate available to a wider user base.   Issues that did not make themselves known in a small beta test, are now being seen.

Some operator error, some Windows 10 nonsense with audio (which is an ongoing thing), along with some actual issues.    FWIW .. i would wait until the final version of 2.2.0 is released if you don't want to assist and report any bugs you may find.

In the meantime, you may want to download and install v2.1.2 in a separate directory to make sure you are on the latest actual release.

Downloaded v 2.1.2 with no problems and as a bonus realized that I now have FT4 frequencies in there. Will wait until June sometime after all or most bugs are ironed out of 2.2.0 to download it.
Great help in this group.

HI Art.

V 2.2.0-rc1 is soooo good at decoding that you might want to try it.  You can install it in a different folder and see if you like it.  If not, you can use use 2.1.2.
I just install each version as follows:  C:\wsjt\v2.x.x or C:\wsjt\v2.x.x-rcx.  That way, I can keep whatever versions I may want to use for as long as I wish.

I also had no issues installing and using 2.2.0-rc1.
