locked WSPR, JT9 spot uploads with multiple WSJT-X instances running

Frank

I'm setting up two instances of WSJT-X v2.1.2 on a Windows 10 Pro desktop so that one can rx/tx JT9 and the other can rx/tx WSPR on 630m, both communicating with my K3S. I understand that in order to do this it's necessary to use VOX rather than CAT rig control. Further, I understand that the two instances can receive and decode their modes simultaneously, though obviously only one can be used to transmit at any given time.

I've created the two instances using the "wsjtx --rig-name=xxxx" command line syntax, and have begun to fill in settings on each. Audio in and out for both instances is set to the USB Audio Codec. On both WSJT-X instances, I'm seeing audio coming in and successful decodes.

Before I move on to tx configuration, at this point I'm trying to debug spot uploads to WSPRnet and PSK Reporter. In both WSJT-X instances, I have Settings > Reporting set with "Prompt me to log QSO" selected and my Op Call entered; "Enable PSK Reporter Spotting" selected; all three boxes checked under UDP Server, both with UDP Server set to 127.0.0.1; unique UDP port numbers assigned (2237 for one, 2238 for the other); and "Secondary UDP Server" unselected, and data left as defaults. In addition, in the main window of the WSPR instance I have the "Upload spots" box checked.

After running for half an hour, both WSJT-X instances are showing a steady stream of WSPR and JT9 decodes, respectively. However, none of these are getting to WSPRnet or PSK Reporter. Besides the above, is there anything I need to do to get this working? A laptop (which is currently turned off and disconnected) on the same home network was able to use a single instance of WSJT-X last night to send spots to WSPRnet and PSK Reporter, though not both simultaneously. If I'm not using accessory apps like JTAlert, do the UDP entries even matter for the purposes of spot uploads?

Thanks for any help,

Frank K6FOD

Hi Frank,

do you have your own gridsquare filled in in "Settings->General"?

Bill,

Thanks for the suggestion, good point. Actually, all is working well now. In the case of JT9 spots I didn't change any config, so all I can gather is that the PSK Reporter may have had a backlog. In the case of WSPR, somehow my entry of my callsign and grid square didn't get saved, so once I filled those in the spots started getting uploaded.
