Band activity window ”overruns” after a certain amount of messages. Try to right-click on it and Reset. You may also use Erase button and double click it. 73, Reino oh3mA

Dave/Reino,
Thanks for the replies. @ Dave, I'm on 40M and on any given interval, I get some CQs, even if there weren't any CQs in a given interval, that "Band Activity" window should not remain blank indefinitely even with "CQ only" checked, which is the case if I don't double-click the Erase button, only then does the "Band Activity" window come back to life and start scrolling again. Curiously, even though the "Band Activity" goes blank, spots are still being reported to Hamspots.net via JTAlert, so the receive and decode process is still occurring, just not rendering in the window and that don't sound right. Though I have now unchecked the CQ only box to see if this also occurs without that checked. @ Reino , The "Band Activity" window always scrolls and fills from the top down, but at no point did it or should it go blank IMO if there is activity on the band, which there always is. I will report back. Ed W2MKM |

Ed, There is a ”feature” in the program that causes those symptoms your described. The display reset releases/cleans the overrun space and display should start show decodes as usual. Just try it. If it does not help, then it is something unknown to me. 73, Reino oh3mA

@ Reino, I see no reset/release option that you make note of. When I right click when moused over the Band Activity and select Erase it does bring the display back to life, but that should not behave that way, with me having to wake up the Band Activity window every hour or so .. never did that before .. would run for days with the Band Activity scrolling away and active ..
@ Dave, I unchecked the CQ only box and the problem still occurs, that is the Band Activity goes blank while still receiving and decoding as evidenced by the activity being fed to Hamspots.net, below you will see that the Band Activity went blank around 15:48 UTC ish (screenshot taken 17:16 UTC) as evidenced by the RX Frequency window (yeah I realize that it may not be exactly as RX would need to be in the receive window) and you can see from the Hamspots.net screenshot taken 17:16UTC, WSTJ-X via JTAlert continues to feed decodes, despite the Band Activity being blank .. and we all know that is not right. All thoughts welcome. Ed W2MKM |

Bill/All,Hi Ed, this is a known issue that we don't currently have a fix for. The decodes are printed but are scrolled off the top of the band activity window, you can verify this by scrolling the window down. The issue occurs after a large number of decodes have printed but only when the option "Settings->General->Display->Start new period decodes at top" is checked. The current workarounds are to uncheck "Settings->General->Display->Start new period decodes at top", or erase the band activity window contents periodically before the issue occurs. Right-click the band activity window for a pop-up menu with and Erase option or double-left-click the Erase button on the main window to erase both the band activity and Rx frequency decodes windows. 73 Bill G4WJS. |
