Decoding not working #AudioIssues

I upgraded my computer to windows 10 and now I can't decode any FT8 signals. The receive status bar is green and at 60db, but still no decoding on any band. Can someone help with suggestions or windows 10 audio settings. I'm using an Icom 7610 that worked perfectly when running windows 7.

Hi David,

have you done anything to ensure your PC is synchronized to UTC?

Any ‘signals’ on the waterfall?

If not then its ‘likely’ a sound card selection issue.

W10 is NOT intuitive. You might have to juggle the inputs eg.  I select the ‘webcam/micrphone’ input in Sound Control even though no webcam exists but is ‘listed’ as a valid input in the W10 drop down ‘sounds’ menu.

If yes then its ‘likely’ a timing issue

can you try other modes, to see if they decode ok.   if they do, then I would suggest timing is off, and you should look into nettime or dimension to run at windows startup, to keep you clock correct....

And you can check your clock with time.is . If it is within 500 MS then the timing is not your peoblem.

I found that although WSJT-X reports 60 db and is green I am having problems with decoding. I turned down the audio on the RIGblaster Blue configuration. WSJT-X shows about 45 db now and decoding seems ok. If I turn down the audio any more I turn it off altogether. WSJT-X is very sensitive.

not sure how you are grabbing the audio from the ts2000...    speaker jack?  headphone jack?   why not acc2

Because the Rigblaster Blue does not use ACC. It does everything through the microphone connection. It’s a Bluetooth device, not an analog device.

It gets it's audio from the earphone jack ( easiest ) or it can be fed via the ACC jack which is a fixed output ( better )  and the AF control doesn't change the level out of the ACC jack.

The problem with that is Bluetooth lag ... that can cause issues with decodes.

What you're talking about is "latency" --the time it takes for A/D and D/A conversions as well as other signal processing that is done in the digital domain. This is present in ALL digital systems, and can't be corrected. (It would require a time machine.) :)

There are several BlueTooth standards. One that has less distance capability has lower latency than the others, but it's still not low enough for a CW op, who needs to monitor his own sending.
