what exactly does "zero" define in the spectrum/waterfall ?Not quite sure what you are referring to here. The slider to set the zero offset is bias applied to the waterfall and/or the spectrum display. The zero offset and gain are setting the offset and slope respectively of the displayed data allowing you to get the minimum and maximum indications exactly where you want them. 73 Bill G4WJS. |

tks reply, but still have questions on setup. what is happening when this Bias is applied ? i am trying to figure out how to limit the larger signals, and still be able to discern the weaker ones. just watching the waterfall, and at the extremes, either control will blank out or overload the display. really like to see something in writing with a procedure with step by step. david/wd4kpd On 12/1/2015 11:17 AM, Bill Somerville g4wjs@... what is happening when this Bias is applied ?zero offset adds a constant amount onto all values, gain multiplies each value by a constant. The two constants are set by the sliders. Another factor is that the final values have to be mapped onto a finite number of screen pixels so there is a small truncation or rounding error (I'm not sure which) in displaying the results. 73 Bill G4WJS. |
