Locked OmniRig v2.0, (4) Rig Support
FYI.....and/or "for what its worth"
17Aug2019 - Sent email off to the website sponsoring OmniRig v2.0 and got a reply that all questions were relayed to the software developer 26Aug2019 - have not received any reply as yet On a side note I was able to get WSJT-X to "connect" direct to Win4IcomSuite without the need for OmniRig. So, (3) rigs, (3) instances of Win4IcomSuite, (3) of WSJT-X, (1) of FLDigi, and my logging software sharing control with them all....woohoo !! Only the 9700 requires OmniRig as an interface between Win4IcomSuite, but, at least all works and no errors ! Now I need another monitor as I have run out of screen space !! 73 de Brad N8GLS |

Bill,
Really appreciate your looking into this !! I’m running this version now and Radios 1 and 2 work fine (just like v1.9) so was thinking it’s just a “simple” task of adding Radios 3 and 4. I also read the “abandoned” statement but thought the version at least worked for what it was, guess that assumption was wrong, hi hi.
I will try to get clarification on the issues and report back. At worst we’ll have a trail of crumbs for anyone asking the same question months from now.
Thanks again for your efforts and apologize for it so far being a waste of valuable time!!
Best 73’s, Brad N8GLS

Hi Brad, there appears to be a few major show stoppers on this. 1) The Omni-Rig v2.0 project appears to have been abandoned, 2) The executable doesn't seem to export the correct type library for clients to access rigs 3 and 4, 3) I can't find the source code of the knock-off project which appears to be in direct violation of the MPL-2.0 license Alex, VE3ANA, releases the source code of the original Omni-Rig under. If you can clarify all of these issues I may be able to proceed. 73 |

In the next WSJT-X release can OmniRig Radio 3 and OmniRig Radio 4 be added to the Rig list ??Hi Brad, I can add those but I found when I tried the knock-off 4 rig clone of Omni-Rig that there are some problems with that version. YMMV. 73 Bill G4WJS. |

I'm thinking you should be able to run FLRig to hook up to Win4IcomSuite and have WSJT-X use FLRig. de Mike W9MDB

I have the Icom trilogy of SDR rigs, IC-7610, 7300, and 9700 all locally controlled via (3) instances of Win4IcomSuite, (2) instances of WSJT-X, and my logging software, LOGic v9, all concurrently interconnected. I use OmniRig v2.0 2018 as the interface between Win4IcomSuite and WSJT-X and successfully have it working with the 7300 and the 9700 all in real time. This version of OmniRig allows for up to (4) rigs to be connected but WSJT-X only has OmniRig Rig 1 and 2 available (v1.9 vintage I believe). Does anyone know if any consideration is being given to add support for OmniRig V2.0 and its (4) Rig capability ?? Darn, I’m one rig connection shy of making this all work, or, a day late and a dollar short….hi hi !.

Replace OmniRig with FLRig. You can run one FLRig for each rig and hook up most any software to it via direct (WSJT-X, FLDigi) or via rigctlcom (for software that does not know HRD is the only program I know of that can't be used this way. de Mike W9MDB

Hi Carl, Yes, that would work just fine if I was only running WSJT-X, however my set-up is a bit more complex and revolves around my logging software and its ability to interface with multiple rigs. I currently have multiple WSJT-X instances running via the command line option you mention but the way I need to interface WSJT-X requires OmniRig. I was just curious if anyone was aware of any plan to incorporate the newer functionality of OmniRig v2.0 that adds rigs 3 and 4. There are other ways to achieve this but I just like the "common" set-up I have across all my rigs and applications as well as allowing for more connectivity options down the road. Hi Brad.
Since you actually have 3 radios, then each one will have a com port assigned when connected via the USB cable (or other interface). That obviates the need for any type of port splitting. Just run 3 instances of WSJT-X using the --rig-name=radio_name option and it should all work. No need for Omnirig or Win4IcomSuite, just define one radio per instance in the settings. 73.
