Locked V 2.0 macOS not decoding
Michael Karliner
I've just had a very frustrating few days with similar symptoms
on my Mac. I my case this finally turned out to be the sound card spontaneously setting itself to 41000 samples/sec despite me setting to 48000. You can do this with Audio/Midi setup which is on every Mac. However, this persisted until I rebooted my machine, when it finally disappeared. 41000 sample rate definitely will cause a horrible rate of decoding, although it should be sometimes visible as an evenly spaced set of spike across the waterfall. At any rate, check you sample rates. Mike |

Do you have a link to the older version? Everything I can find is the new version. Thank, I appreciate it. |

Ok, I will delete the current version and try installing the older version. I don't get it, I have tired everything I can think of with no resolution. I wish we could talk with someone that has more knowledge of the software to help.......

Respectfully, I just went back to the older version 2.0.0. where decoding is not an issue. I experienced a very similar situation with the following setup:
WSJT-X v2.0.1 Rumlog Macbook Pro mid-2012 OS 10.14.5 (latest) What I did notice in Activity monitor was Firefox consuming a very high percentage of my available RAM. I was using Firefox to monitor PSK, QRZ and the BBC. I have just increased my RAM to 16Gb and also deleted the 10s of Gbs of WAV files accumulated in 2 years of using WSJT. Everything works very smootly now but unfortunately I'm not sure whether it was the RAM or the deletion of the WAV files or something else that solved the problem. Thanks Bernard de G8KVM |

Hello all, this is my update.
I download JTDX for MAC for testing and It's WORKING very good with no issues Decoding as well as transmitting, responding, logging, etc. Program is very very similar to WSJT-X but I notice (my perception) that I receive more stations with JTDX than before with WSJT-X. I will continue checking the wsjt issue in a relaxed way. thanks Augusto / LU9ARL |

Hi Augusto,
I'm sorry that this didn't solve the problem, and it really looks like you're trying all the right things. The only difference I can see now is that I'm using an IC-7610 and you're using an IC-7100. In WSJT-X, under Preferences/Audio, does the Soundcard setting for input and output show USB Audio CODEC? That's the setting I see after installing the Silicon Labs driver. I'm really guessing now and am not in front of my rig. I can go back and look later today and see if I can think of anything else. I understand your frustration! Joe/WB0CDY |

Thanks Joe/WB0CDY,
I try what you did . 1) I uninstall and reinstall wsjt-x 2.0.1-Darwin Also reinstall the SiLabs CP210X Macintosh OSX (v5.0.10) I checked the memory allocation and was ok 2) I reduce the USB/AF to 9% (also tried different levels)\ *** the only doubt is if the audio should be mono or stereo on the mac. But these changes didn't work. I also checked: MAC with power cord connected and disconnected, with a different USB port. Different Cables. With external monitor disconnected and connected, praying to 3 different goods... nothing make it work again. If I do it manually I can complete some QSOs Situation is: Decoding button lit every cycle before first transmission Ones Enable TX is pressed, on the next cycle the Decode button not lit. If at that moment I turn off TX "Decode" button not lit for any cycle. But after some time the TX is off Decoding start. (I am not sure when) If a press "Decode" button manually the last message received in the "RX Frequency" window is repeated all the times I press Decode. I was using WSJT-X for a long time with no issues. I don't have a clue what is going on. rgds Augusto LU9ARL Icom 7100 CPU vesion M=1.11, S=1.00 C=1.10 DSP I=1.03 D=1.00, MacBook air with macOS Mojave version 10.14.4, WSJT-X v2.0.1 7ddcb7 |

Hi Augusto,
I was also seeing the same thing...if I had Enable TX activated, I could go for long periods of time (minutes) without seeing any decodes. Turn off Enable TX, and decodes started as usual. Here's a couple of things that seemed to help: 1) If I put WSJT-X into the trash, emptied the trash, and then downloaded/reloaded a fresh version of WSJT-X, everything seemed to return to normal. But of course, that's not optimum. 2) I also reduced my USB/AF output from my rig so that the green meter in the lower left of WSJT-X was no higher than 40 - 50. This required significantly lowering the USB/AF output to its current value of 9%. I suspect that this is more closely related to the solution than reloading WSJT-X. But I can also say that restoring normal operation by reloading WSJT-X is definitely reproducible. I don't have any well-collected data as to whether this is the solution, but I have been successfully operating with the same version of WSJT-X for a couple of weeks now without problem. And I swear that I'm getting more decodes per Tx/Rx cycle. Good luck...I know how annoying this can be. Joe/WB0CDY Icom IC-7610, MacBookPro OS 10.14.4, WSJT-X 2.0.1 |

Hi, I am having the same issue here.
RIG: IC-7100 connected to Apple computer using USB cable and WSJT-X I used WSJT-X before with same RIG and MAC with no problems. If "ENABLE TX" is red the Decoding button never lite to purple and decode never happen. If I turn off "ENABLE TX" still not decoding for a some time. I check many times configuration, changed USB cable, reboot, etc nothing helps. Any known resolution?? thanks Augusto LU9ARL |

I had a similar issue that seemed to occur when I had a browser window open and always with focus, but also sometimes without (I was monitoring PSK Reporter as has been my habit whenever I operate digital modes) - the screen was big enough that I could see that the “decode” button did not flash/change color to indicate it was attempting to decode. It seemed to work fine if JTBridge was on screen with/without focus. I am running a Late 2014 Mac Mini (2.6 GHz i5, 16Gb RAM, Intel Iris graphics), macOS 10.14.2, Yaesu FT-450D, and Yaesu SCU-17. Icom 7300 MacBook Air via USB cable CAT control I have tested with different USB cables, icom 7100 and 7300, different bands, monitored power setting, audio input /output, swr, two different MacBooks (personal & work) I am at a lost, the only thing that fixes it temporarily is removing and installing again but that may only last for an hour or day and then I have to go through the entire process. I can post screen recording if needed. Unfortunately I can’t seem to find a fix. I have been using WSJTX for FT8 and MSK144 for a while now and I am lost to why this is happening now.
