Nothing to do with the frecuency list either.  WSJT-X 2.4.0 and above do not have the combined 'JT9+JT65' mode anynmore.

the documentation is lagging, JT9+JT65 mode was removed in version 2.4.0. because the developers deemed  it to be no longer useful and difficult to maintain.

Trying to get Map65 v3 going #map65

James C. Hall, MD

Well I finally got a little time to download the rc that includes Map65 v3 in order to re-kindle my interest in EME. I want to try the new Q65 mode. (I also need South America to finish WAC)

I have been using my antennas on LEO sats (added a 432 MHz antenna on the cross boom that I had before for satellites) and loving the new paradigm of using a SDR receiver direct as a “2nd radio” in SatPC32. I use an Airspy R2. It’s very cool to be able to see the receive passband on SDR Console v3 and use your mouse wheel to fine tune on a chosen signal. You have to use a virtual com port “cable” to get this all to work and that’s something new for me - and was tough to understand at first.

So now I’m trying to get this to work with Map65. I can’t seem to directly choose something like Airspy, although I did see the Funcube dongle + (which I also have). Do I need to use a ‘middle program’ like SDR Console to connect the two ? I saw the Linrad stuff and that’s a non-starter with me. Before, I just had a connection to a receive port I added to the back of my FT-847. My antennas are simple - a pair of KLM 13B2’s.

If I need to post this to the moon net forum, let me know.

You have 2.4.of what? Are you using the 'real' WSJT-X or perhaps one of the clones?

Can you take a screenshot showing JT9+JT65 still available?

Peter,

you should not be surprised at the behaviour you observe, the core globally coordinated WSPR band hopping bands have a strict schedule that occupies every available slot, if you select them all then there is no leeway to monitor or transmit on other bands. If you want to have band hopping cover other selected bands then you must forego one or more of the core slots. This has always been the case.

P.S. please start a new topic thread for new queries rather than replying to an existing thread and changing the subject line.

Re: Hamlib #error

Gene Horr

Start with answering Bill's questions and everyone can work from there.

The "complexity" comes from the versatility.  You can run the software on different computers, with different OSs, with different ADC/DAC hardware - both internal and external, with different radio control (everything from TCP/IP over the internet to no control at all other than PTT), and all this to almost any radio made in the past 40 years or even older if it is capable of acceptable frequency stability.

That is pretty darn amazing.

But the cost of this is that there is no one setup that works for everyone.  Even "PTT" has a variety of ways to accomplish this.  So, yes, as a beginner it can seem a bit overwhelming at first.  I suspect most who get it working on the first try are mostly because of random luck.

So stick with it.  There will be some hair pulling in frustration at first but once you get it working things become much easier on the "inside the shack" side.  Then you only need to fight transmission line problems, antenna problems, ionosphere conditions, ....

What?  Do you want to be bored or something?

Re: Vertical spikes every 1000 hz prevent decoding

Alan G4ZFQ

I was unable to measure the noise floor on my calibrated ANAN 7000DKE MKII -- it runs around -143dB and that's just too small to register on the ADC.  I can increase the gain but that is a bogus measurement. Increasing the gain the lowest level SpectrumLab shows is around -130dB.
So it would appear to me that SpectrumLab is unable to measure the real noise floor.
Mike,

Seems to me there are unknowns. Soundcards have different ADCs, gains, input noise.
Essentially standards are required.
I'm no expert but I'd attempt to test the SNR of a weakish standard. It may be necessary to play with gains. Then the resulting dynamic range is important.
SpectrumLab is as good a tool to do this as any other but I don't think a single check on different cards without a standard will prove anything.
