WSJT Sensitivity V MSHV #why ?
Derek Brown
On 6m this evening, monitoring using WSJT-X 2.4 on FT8,
noticed a lot of G Calls working stateside, but I could not "see " the
Stateside calls in the waterfall or decoded ? So I swopped to MSHV and
lo and behold, I am seeing US Calls decoded and both sides of the
various QSO's, not really noticed this before, but is MSHV that more
sensitive than WSJT-X or have I just got a few settings wrong ? I
prefer to use WSJT-X as it has a well defined working interface,
whereas MSHV does not seem so "automatic" or again is there something I
have overlooked ? Help ! Derek G8ECI Long time lurker and user of WSJT-X |

You can do it with a text editor or the free ADIF Master program.

Tried "Rescan ADIF Log" that didn't help; neither did turning "Show DXCC, etc" off and on. Figured this can't be a new question so I tried searching the group messages but no help here either, at least with the search terms I used. Can anyone help? |

Again, lack of high SWR does not mean you can’t have RFI. You need to look at your grounding and shielding, as well as how close your antenna(s) are to the shack. Gary - - AG0N |

Thanks.
Some other sites suggest this type of fault can occur if FLrig doesn’t return a string when a string is expected. https://www.unix.com/programming/264509-segment-fault-related-strlen.html |

OK, thanks! Think the program and radio now setup correctly! When I change to the USB-data it did modulate, now Im left with figuring out how the rf is getting into computer! But I think the program and radio properly setup.
Thank you! tim |

So, I changed all the modes to USB, and yes transmits (and rf in shack returns), however, then I cannot use my mike for voice modes.Tim, you should be using USB-DATA mode with WSJT-X, the DATA MOD settings on your rig (DATA1 MOD on the IC-7600) affect that and do not affect the DATA OFF settings with apply to normal USB usage. Check the "Settings->Radio->Mode->Data/Pkt" option is WSJT-X to have it automatically select USB-DATA mode on your rig. 73 Bill G4WJS. |

So, I changed all the modes to USB, and yes transmits (and rf in shack returns), however, then I cannot use my mike for voice modes.
It appears that data off mod if set ot usb allows wsjt-x to transmit but prevents me from using normal voice, if I change to MIC-ACC voice works but no transmit from the software. I KNOW this worked at one point, and I did not have to change the Data off mod to Mic/Acc or USB when I wanted to use WXJT-X. I have verified SWR is less than 1.5 to 1 on antenna, so not high swr causing rf in shack issue. Thanks. |

SO yes it does look like the RF was getting into computer, I have helped that issue.Tim, lack of Tx audio may be due to incorrect rig settings. Typically on Icom rigs there is a menu setting to determine the source of Tx modulation in USB-DATA modes, by default i is usually ACC and should be changed to USB if using a USB connection between rig and PC for audio. BTW it seems strange that you are having RFI issues if you have no Tx audio. 73 Bill G4WJS. |

SO yes it does look like the RF was getting into computer, I have helped that issue.
One question, the software is communicating with the radio, however, when it transmits, radio does go into transmit mode, it appears to not be sending audio/signals? Is there something to check? Thanks!!! Tim |

Thanks for all your help.Hi Walt, thanks, that seems to isolate the issue to the Flrig backed of Hamlib. The cause of the crash is not obvious as it is triggered in an unrelated thread of WSJT-X, perhaps some memory corruption due to a coding error in the Hamlib Flrig interface has caused the problem. 73 Bill G4WJS. |

I've not been able to control the K2 directly from wsjtx. I can control my FTDX101D directly from wsjtx, or using FLrig with not problems. When I try to control the K2 using FLrig, I get the crash.
BTW, I have no problems using FLrig to control my K2 when running FLdigi. The crash only occurs when controlling the K2 using FLrig from wsjtx. |
