Hi Gene,

thanks for the update. I had rather hoped that the Hamlib version that was shipped with WSJT-X v2.5.0 RC6 could be the one used for the v2.5.0 GA release, but it seems not :(

Yes the well pipe also has a ground pipe on the opposite side of the house. The electrical inspector made sure that was done when my generator was installed. I will check for resistance also when I get back down there

That's what's required.  There's a lot of impedance between the two.  Test for AC voltage first between your bonding bus and the house ground (like the electrical outlet ground).  Then test resistance....it should be < 2 ohms.  That's where your computer is grounded for example to you have different grounding points going on.

Mike,

I think your time would be better spent elsewhere. Users who use VOX type PTT on rigs that do not accept CAT QSY commands while in transmit mode must not set the option that allows this in WSJT-X. Also not setting any VOX hang time to minimum is going to trigger the same issue with the same sort of rigs. A generic solution is not required and will likely cause more issues for those using Doppler tracking and other facilities that require CAT QSY commands while transmitting. This is a setup issue, please don't over complicate the situation.

It is normal for the rig to do this if you have ‘fake it’ set in WSJT-X. It’s purpose is to keep your Transmitted signal near the middle of your band filter.

HOWEVER I have also had a few cases where the frequency ‘walks’ away from the correct frequency as is moves by the offset on each transmission but does not return to the starting frequency.  A temporary solution is to retune the rig and then make sure your transmit frequency is in the range 1-1.5k, so that fake it has no effect.

To fix it I have to reboot the PC and power cycle the rig, so I think it is caused by Windows not correctly accessing the cat control for some reason.

Windows 7 is fine for now but eventually support for that will be dropped as Windows moves on to newer supported versions, but no plans for that as yet.

There have been reports that although it is normal for the TX frequency to shift by 500 Hz, the RX frequency is NOT restored. This is due to a race hazard between the PTT function and the CAT command for setting the RX frequency. If the transceiver does not support a CAT command to change frequency while it is TX mode, and the CAT command is sent before the PTT has released, the RX frequency will not be restored.

[Edited Message Follows]

Peter,
I have been running WSJT-x 2.5 and my other ham apps on Win11 beta without any issues or special considerations.

But YMMV

Well, you should clean up, but you should check as you reassemble one piece at a time that it’s working.

Start from first principles: Unplug all radio cables, use device manager to see what COM ports are on your P, plug in ONE radio, see what COM ports appear, set up that one radio in WSJT-x and get it working properly, rinse, lather, repeat.

Good evening. I did what I should never do and cleaned up and rearranged my shack. The good news, I can now see all my radios about eye height and reach all of them without much leaning or stretching. The bad news, I can't get my radios to connect with the program. I have gone in and changed the setting for the proper com ports. I also removed the com ports and also removed them via the registry and reinstalled them. I was thinking of removing the software and starting over, but I am not sure what to do at this point.
My Icom RS-Ba1 software will also not work but I will get that working once I get this working. I am guessing it is something in a com port because I did unplug the radios and the use cables when I moved them.

I am running windows 10, WSJTx version 2.4.0 and commander. Anyone have suggestions? I have walked away from this a few times and come back when not frustrated. I am asking here because I know, once someone gets frustrated like I am, they can't see the most simple error or problem.
Thanks in advance

Hi there,
After being away from digi modes for two years, I'd like to get back on air with FT4 and FT8.

Any advice would be welcome, in particular regarding how to update wsjtx...just the latest version or do I need to do it in steps?

I have an IC 7600 with high performamce tower PC, running Windows System 7 pro. I do not wish to upgrade the system 7, so is that a hindrance to what version of wdjtx I can run?

Hi Pete,

just install the latest version if WSJT-X downloaded from here: https://physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/k1jt/wsjtx.html or here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/wsjt/files/ . You can un-install the old version first, your previous settings and log files will not be lost. Windows 7 is fine for now but eventually support for that will be dropped as Windows moves on to newer supported versions, but no plans for that as yet.
