William Smith <w_smith@...>
If you are transmitting on the same audio frequency as someone else (and if you haven’t checked ‘Hold Tx’, when you click on a CQ, it’ll move your transmit frequency to that of the caller, so you _are_ transmitting on the same audio frequency), this will happen to reduce QRM.

The solution is to check ‘Hold Tx’ and pick a spot on the waterfall that’s visually clear (*) for your transmission. 73, Willie N1JBJ (*) I use a Python program to look through the last 2 minutes of ALL.TXT and search for open frequencies even if they are not visually detectable on the waterfall, but that’s overkill, and a bit of a kludge, so “Looks Clear To Me” is a perfectly fine paradigm. UPDATE --- fixed. Somehow during the install of the update, the RIG selection was changed from previous settings. I switched it back to my DX1200 and it is working good now!

Hi all, I'm having issues getting the WSJT-X program to communicate with my Icom IC-746PRO; specifically with the CAT portion. The software is decoding FT8 signals just fine; but I cannot get any rig control. I'm getting the following error code: Hamlib Error: Communication bus error
I'm using the RigExpert TI-5000, and have the correct cabling for the interface between it and my rig. I have followed the recommended config settings from RigExpert, but they are pretty minimal. Seems like something is being missed. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. 73, Denny-NZ8D |

Stephen,
You can make the hardware and software work, but I don't think FT8 would work in FM mode, which is the only mode the FT-7900 has. I was doing something similar for a while using an FT-7900 with a Signalink USB and fldigi. There is no rig control, which is why it's not in the rig list. But, you can send PTT to the radio, and send and receive audio via a Signalink or similar device. Before I had the Signalink, I used a nomic interface and a USB sound card. The FT-7900 is a really nice dual band rig, by the way. Mike KA2JAI |

Mike, thanks! Dave, I think you missed the point. The info in the bottom line just shows the current mode. I was interested in the mode of previous decode blocks, which, as Mike (and Reino) pointed out, are encoded in each line decoded.

Mike, I downloaded the libhamlib-4.dll from sourceforge and installed the file into wsjtx bin folder. I renamed the old file with a lld extension first, copied the new file into the bin folder and started WSJT-X. Same results. The receive stops working when I move the cursor in the waterfall. The sourceforge file is 9234 kb and the dll that was in WSJT-X is 9649 kb. I reinstalled version 2.4.0 of WSJT-X and it has libhamlib-4.dll in it. It does not exhibit the same problem as 2.5.4. When I move the cursor m by left click then right click the TX light flickers but does not lock out the receive signal like v 2.5.4 does. It appears the .dll is ok but the 2.5.4 version has a problem. I am back to 2.4.0 now. 73 Don, NN8B |

That is an example of an unknown station that has a special/non-standard call sign. The operator don't understand that he has to send his full call sign using Tx1 response. He is using Tx2 to save a timeslot, hi!
toggle quoted message
Show quoted text
He may think that there is no need to send in his case a Tx1 message as it does not contain locator information. The reason is that the locator bits are used so that his full call sign fits in. Of course, if you had received earlier his full call sign in a CQ or another message to somebody else, then your wsjt-x should recognize the hashed call sign. There is a minor possibility for a call collision in that case. If really interested you may study User Guide 7.5. Nonstandard Callsigns. 73, Reino OH3mA -----Original Message-----

#1 Shut down WSJTX/JTDX #2 Download either the 32-bit or 64-bit DLL matching the 32/64-bit version of WSJTX/JTDX -- hopefully your browser doesn't block it but may warn you multiple times. If you can do a "Save As" you can save it directly in \WSJT\WSJTX\bin and replace the libhamlib-4.dll that is there. http://n0nb.users.sourceforge.net/dll32/libhamlib-4.dll http://n0nb.users.sourceforge.net/dll64/libhamlib-4.dll #3 If you don't save directly you need to open a file browser and move the file that way. If you're not familiar with that here's a video on the file browser - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyVqCJrs9dk Then if it still doesn't work. Please place this file in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\WSJT-X The WSJT-X_Rigcontrol.log file will be in the same location For Linux put it in ~/.config The WSJT-X_Rigcontrol.log file will be here: ~/.local/share/WSJT-X https://www.dropbox.com/s/t52ngcalsgnpm8m/wsjtx_log_config.ini?dl=0 Restart WSJT-X and duplicate the problem.Shut down WSJT-X Then send me the WSJT-X_RigControl.log fileMike W9MDB On Tuesday, March 15, 2022, 02:39:11 PM CDT, Nige Barker <nigel.barker@...> wrote:
