Hi Mike,

... got a different path (/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu) but that should be OK.

So far I have no libhamlib.so.4* in my system. - In the download section
of the wsjtx-page
<https://www.physics.princeton.edu//pulsar/K1JT/wsjtx.html> it does not
specify the need for any other "non-of-the-shelf" hamlib-version so far,
but says that the downloadable .deb ist for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (which I am
running). ... This confuses me a bit. - Did I miss out on something?

However:

* after coping in and running ldconfig I get the following for the links:

# ls -la libhamlib*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root    86776 Feb 18  2020 libhamlib++.a

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  3547336 Feb 18  2020 libhamlib.so.2.1.3

libhamlib.so.4.0.5
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 17443168 Jan 24 17:04 libhamlib.so.4.0.5

Hi Martin and All,
The logging directory contains also files that specific to installation in the old computer and its processing features. It is recommended not to move those into the new one. Unfortunately I don't recall which file Bill listed, but at least those containing "wisdom" are computer specific and should not be copied over. On the operating point of view minimum is wsjtx_log.adi for worked before and wsjt-x.ini for settings (some issues may require a new value in the Settings in any case. In addition wsjtx.log, if you have used it for any purpose (it is human readable mirror of the adi-file). Another potentially useful file to keep is ALL.TXT, but it could be very large unless renamed say one a month or so. If there is some contest that is not yet transferred into a Cabrillo file, then the db.sqlite is needed. CALL3.txt is usefull, if you have saved DX Call - DX Grid pairs for later use.

I'd suggest copying everything that's in the default 'user data' folder of C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\WSJT-X from that location on the old computer across to the same location on the new machine; that'll ensure that not only the ADIF log file but also all your user-specific settings such as configurations etc are transferred to the new machine.

I would guess that installing WSJT-X on the new machine would create an initial set of files in that location so probably best to copy over all the files from the old machine after you've installed WSJT-X, allowing the copy process to overwrite whatever has already been created by the WSJT-X installation process.

Hi,

Select WSJT-X in your "Applications" folder and right click on it. From the displayed menu, select "Show Package Contents". You should now see a number of folders and sub-folders. Open "Resources" folder and then the "wsjtx" folder.
You should see the "cty.dat" file. Just replace that with the new file.

Cheers, David VK3DRH

Tim Mitchell <tim@...>

Hi, I have been hunting for some good options for selcall on my SG-2020 and came across hamring which seemed to be heading in the right direction, like a phone calling app and on a phone. I now see that the Hamring group is defunct and my e-mails are being returned from the developer. It seems like the guy who made the program is no longer with us. Is there anywhere I can get a download of the program demo? I know some of the members here use this app. If there isn't someone who can send me a copy, can someone please give me some pointers for an equally functional program? I also came across ToneTool but that is also unavailable..

Any info or help would be appreciated,

Dave Nelson W6NEL <w6nel@...>

The easiest way I have found to fix the Shared Memory Error is with a "Shortcut".

1. Open the Shortcut app
2. Make a new Shortcut using File > New Shortcut
3. In the search box enter "Run AppleScript" and choose "Run AppleScript" below
4. Replace the text in the editing window with

do shell script "sudo sysctl -w kern.sysv.shmmax=104857600" user name "username" password "pass" with administrator privileges

Replacing username with your username and pass with your password
5. Click the hammer icon, your script should no longer be purple
6. Close the Editor Window
7. In the Shortcut App window right-click the new shortcut, it will probably be named "Run AppleScript", and choose "Rename". Rename your shortcut to something that makes sense to you, I used "WSJT-X Memory Error"

Now you can run it any time you need it.

Correct.

And that is what I stated in my post.

I use a separte serial port with RTS for PTT and this works. - Up to 2.3.1.

@Karl: This corresponds to your method #2 and it is a wsjt-x issue with
newer versions.

Yesterday I rolled back and forth between 2.3.1. and 2.5.4 several times
to check various things. Back on 2.3.1 all is fine. - So it's nothing to
do with my wiring.

In Versions 2.4.x up I can wire the audio through the front mic-jack to
make it work. But that is very unpractical, as I always have to change
the wiring when swapping between digimodes and SSB.

Thanks again an 73

Locked FT8 crash after new install under Bullseye #stopped_working

I’ve had WSJTX running for several years on Raspberry Pi under Raspbian Buster

I installed an image of Bullseye on the same RPi. I then installed WSJTX and copied over WSJT-X.ini, wsjtx_log.adi, wsjtx.log and ALL.TXT.

Starting FT8 it will run properly for seconds to perhaps 30 seconds and then crashes.

I noticed at startup, in the box next to the right of the Mode on the bottom, it says “worked before records created” and then disappears.

Any suggestions?

I am running a 15 MHz WSPR on a PI unit with a TAPR daughter board at 100 mw. With filtering. It is attached to an old resurrected Hustler 6BTV about a100 yds from my 3 element beam.

When I switch to my shack beam and monitor on my base radio I will see harmonics. The main RX freq sees my 100 mw at 35db and the second, third, fourth etc are usually starting at -25 db or so.

This is normal for the close proximity even with filtering on the WSPR.

The PI unit is working real well on 15 m. Typical day is 25 to 30 hearings at any given time., all the way to Africa, Japan and Australia.

Look for my out there from Tucson.

The "No Audio from Rear Panel" condition exists when you inject PTT via
either CAT command or serial RTS logic low to the Mic PTT line. Either
signal mutes the TS2000 rear panel audio input; Then transmit audio is
accepted only from the TS2000 front panel Mic connector. This is
working exactly as designed and documented by Kenwood from day one and
was not modified in any subsequent firmware update. Since the rear
panel audio input signal is disabled, the TxMon feature sends nothing
to the speaker. The pre-selected defaults for WSJTx that appear when
the user runs the setup and chooses Knwd TS2000 as the radio model
would have worked correctly from the beginning (which at my station was
WSJTx 1.8 a few years ago).
The good news is that you have no less than two other methods to get
your TS-2000 setup working properly with WSJTx: These two are my first
thoughts, and others here probably have even better ways to get you on
the air again. So dig out your TS2000 manual and thumb back to page 95
for interfacing an MCP or TNC to the radio.
Method 1) In WSJT change the Radio PTT setting to VOX, DO NOT USE
CAT!! Remember, a CAT PTT or a station PTT (pin 13) will ALWAYS mute
the rear panel ACCY2 jack audio input and unmute the front panel mic
jack.
OR
Method 2)
If uou MUST use an RTS PTT signal instead of VOX, rewire your RTS PTT
lead to pin 9 of the rear panel ACCY2 jack, used for PKS or Packet
Send. The corresponding transmitter audio input is PKD or Packet Data.
NOTE: That is the ONLY point you can apply the PTT signal and get
modulation routed into the transmitter. The ground return for both
lines is pin 8 or pin 12 on the 13-pin DIN connector.
CAUTION: The 13-pin DIN plug can be inserted upside down without
causing smoke. Ignore any arrows on the molded plug body. Check it
visually! Again, be sure you disable CAT control and use only the VOX
or PTT option in WSJTx.
MIKE W9MDB -
Stefan's issue has nothing to do with the recent updates or any coding
of Hamlib inside WSJTx, It is simply a peculiarity of the Kenwood
TS2000.station which has been known since the rig debuted over two
decades ago. Indeed, Stefan CAN'T use any source of CAT commands to
get WSJTx transmitting in his station. CAT is itself the root cause of
his missing Tx audio problem.
