Could that be because you're waiting for 73 and the other station has moved on? 73 is not part of a contest exchange. When one station has copied RRR or RR73, the QSO is complete. On 73, most of us send TU in place of RRR or RR73.

Hi Charlie,

you can add extra CAT commands to the mode setting commands in the Omni-Rig .ini file for your rig. Work on a copy of the file so you can always refer back to the original. MD0C;NA00;SH017; should get you USB-DATA with NAR(row) off with 3000 Hz bandwidth.

Chuck,
Thanks for all the suggestions.

I operate QRO in lots of contest everything that goes into and out for my PC has ferrite on it.
I can switch to plain FT-8 it works great so to me that tells me my sound and mic settings are ok.

With HRD in control I can go into settings and change from Fake It to None.
After I do that everything works great in Split....but no output power....to me that points at sound card,MOD USB setting,Echo Back.

But all are correct ...

I f i setup  WSJT-x for the IC-7610 it all behaves exactly the same....Put the rig in split set the frequencies push tune it keys up the rig but no power output...

I am looking on Google now and see if I have missed something.

I would love to see some screenshots of other IC-7610 owners settings.

I know this is possible

I think I will step back from this for a little bit.

Thanks again

Curt,
I have observed that FT8 does not decode if the total CPU usage is high at the start of a receive cycle.  In my case I had a logging program that had high cpu usage at the end of a RX cycle overlapping into the next cycle and killing the folowing RX cycle.  I am unable to explain why your system has high CPU usage at the end of a transmit cycle.  I would suggest stopping as many non-WSJT programs as you can and see what happens.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

After I transmit, no decodes are displayed.  The waterfall pauses for a few seconds after transmitting.

Process "explorer.exe" and one or more "svchost.exe" processes use the CPU after transmitting (during the receive cycle), during 50% duty cycle tests.

During receive-only tests, these processes ("explorer.exe" and "svchost.exe") do not appear to be active at all.

KEY ITEM:  I'm not sure why "explorer.exe" and "svchost.exe" appear very active after transmitting.  They don't appear to be necessary to decoding, as they are not active when I'm only receiving.  Please see below where I've set the priorities of some processing, in an attempt to allocate more CPU to WSJT-X.   My intuition is that something in my system causes these processes to run, and they don't need to run at all for WSJTX decoding.

COMPUTER

MAKE / MODEL                 HP Elitebook Folio 9470m

PROCESSOR                        Intel Core i5-3427U 1.9 GHz  2.4 GHz

RAM                                      8 GB (7.87 usable)

TRANSCEIVER

MAKE / MODEL                 Icom IC-7200

FREQUENCY                       14.074

MODE                                   USB

AUDIO FILTERING            3600 Hz wide

DATA                                     ON

RF POWER                           tried both L and 30 watts; same behavior

MoD                                      U

D-MoD                                 U

USL LVL                                50

PRIORITIZATION OF PROCESSES

I downloaded, installed, and used “Process Hacker 2” to examine and set the priority of CPU processes as shown below:

wsjtx.exe            Priority                             Real Time

                             I/O Priority                      High

                             Save for wsjtx.exe           checked

Jt9.exe                Priority                              Above Normal

                             I/O Priority                       Normal

                            Save for jt9.exe                checked

explorer.exe     Priority                               Below Normal

                            I/O Priority                        Very Low

                            Save for jt9.exe                checked

OBSERVATIONS

a) WSJT-X does decode normally when I’m only listening

b) After transmitting only once WSJT-x skips (does not) decode for 1 to 3 cycles.  The DECODE button does not turn blue when it skips (does not) decode.  Decoding resumes after 1 to 3 cycles.

c) While transmitting at 50% duty cycle, WSJT-X does not decode.

c) Signals are always present / visible on the waterfall.

Graphs of CPU usage are shown below for (a) RX only, and (b) RX and TX at 50% duty cycle

I found the problem. I installed WSJT-X on the laptop and everything worked fine, in that process I found that the USB cable that was plugged into the main computer was bad. I replaced it before I set up the laptop. I put cables back on the main computer and restarted WSJT and made a contact on FT4, I then switched to FT8 and WALA it worked fine. User Manual section 7.4. Contest Messages shows supported contest messages and how to invoke those contents. In short File -> Settings -> Advanced, then select  Special operation activity and select RTTY RU Exch and put your state in the box. If you have not used any contest mode before, you are done. If previous contest Cabrillo exists, then you should Reset Cabrillo log (in File).

Does CAT and PTT pass their tests?  Are you  using the correct COM port number?  Are your Icom drivers up to date?  Is your radio set to USB-D?  Have you had any Widows updates recently?  I bet you have.  Is your USB cable reliable.   Are you getting any RF in your shack?  Does your USB cable have ferrite on both ends?  Are you running the most recent versions of WSJT-X and JTAlert?  Are your Icom drivers properly installed?  Can you see both audio input and output devices on the device manager?  Do they appear when you power up the radio and disappear when you power the radio off completely.  I would keep backing up to decompose the problem into smaller and smaller pieces.  Then build up from there.  This is pretty reliable stuff.  You can fix this.

Um ... you're not just on 4 frequencies, you'll have signals all over the bandwidth.   What they are saying is that you should NOT just use simplex to answer someone, but work 'split' (which is not the same as 'rig' split), answering a station off their Tx location.
