It sounds like something is bogging down your computer resources...your reports of the different behaviors could all be explained by general "sluggishness".

Try rebooting and restarting things.

I'm running the GA on both a Core I3 and a Core I5 and don't see any of the behviors you are reporting.

Hello - Here are bugs I'm experiencing with General Release WSJTX 2.2.0 in FT8 and FT4. I'm using Mac OS 10.12.6.

None of these bugs exist in General Release 2.1.2

1) The clock does not continually update by the second but rather randomly. It does immediately update if I hit the Log QSO button.

2) Single clicking Erase has no effect. Doubling clicking Erase eventually clears the Band Activity window - perhaps 10 seconds - vs immediately. The RX Freq window clears if I then click in it. Both windows clear immediately with a right click in each separately.

3) Double clicking on a call in the RX Freq window does not always initiate a TX sequence. The DX Call line will not update to reflect the double click. I'll then have to go to the Band Activity window for it to work.

4) Clicking on Enable TX works but if I then Halt, TXing stops but the Enable TX button remains highlighted - but TXing will not resume on the next appropriate interval. Pressing Enable TX to remove the highlight, the button immediately returns to red and TXing resumes requiring Halt to stop TX. While TXing, if I hit Enable TX so it is no longer highlighted TXing continues for the interval as expected and Halt will stop it if desired.

IE Rather than hitting Halt to stop TXing as in 2.1.2 I have to hit Enable TX to unhighlight it and then Halt to avoid the behavior I've attempted to describe above.

5) Switching to Hound mode causes the Fox Log window to open. Is there a way to prevent that? (The Hold TX Freq state remains sticky when returning to normal mode from Hound. Thanks!)

An option in preferences to change the color of the RX cursor would be useful. The brighter green color in 2.1.2 I find easier to see.

Thanks for you efforts.

I'd of course be happy to test any beta that addresses these bugs.

Thanks for your efforts.

Just sent you 3 files.

The pdf file is an early user documentation file written by Rich K1HTV for the blind ham group.

The alltext.txt file is the same as the exe file except with a different extension just in case the other one does not get through.

Hopefully they all get through.

Let me know if you get them.

I am running XP pro Version 2002 Service Pack 3 on a Pentium 4 CPU 2 Ghz 1.25 Ghz ram. WSJT-S release 2.1.2 works fine but when I upgraded to 2.2.0 I received the following error when I tried to execute 2.2.0 (it loaded up with no issues):
"wsjtx.exe entry point not found"
"the procedure entry point CanceIioEx could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll"
I went back to 2.1.2 and all is well.
I know that this is an old computer and old windows but I thought that I would report it just in case someone else is having the same issue.
ps. It works fine on my Win 7 64 bit machine.

Locked Re: TX6 Message in NA Contest Mode V2.2.0

Reino Talarmo

For some reason the NA contest mode seems to have been accepted (for HF at least) by the RSGB instead of the EU contest mode which was developed for our EU type exchanges. I have not actually used the EU mode yet as I have not been active on VHF recently hence this question.
Hi Tony,

The names of the Special operating activities are defines as those contests they were originally designed for. As you noted those are non-compatible. The real issue is which exchange is needed in a specific contest, not the name of the Special operating activity nor continent!

Each contest organizer should clearly state in the rules which FT8/FT4 Special operating activity is applicable for their contest exchange. RSGB has been a good example.

The real problem in contests are those who are not participating that contest, but want to make a QSO with a contester using e.g. standards messages. Usually they don't seem to understand why contester is giving a 'wrong' response to their call and continue and continue...

73, Reino OH3mA

PS. It will be interesting to see the confusion EU VHF contest new message formats may cause say next Thursday. I do support the new format as it removes any uncertainty who actually gave you a report. Thanks for that modification.

You can use the OS X tool Automator. Open it, create a new Application, and make that application's action "Run Shell Script". In the box, put:

Then open the new application you've created with Automator (with the robot icon) instead of opening wsjtx directly.
