yes that is correct, space was needed to accommodate new models. You can list the models supported, and their assigned model numbers using `rigctl -l` or `rigctld -l`.

Hi Jim,

Try this.

Go to main.@wsjtx.groups.io

Find the ALL.TXT topic,

Scroll down until you see my message with the attached zip file.

Click on it and tell it to save it. It will tell you that it was moved or deleted and provide you with a weird file name. View your download directory and you should see the file there. Change its name to a zip file and open it. It will have my 2 files in there. At least that is what happened here.

I try not to bother you very often Joe but over that last week or so 20M congestion has been so bad that it is hard to work a DX station without interfering with someone or being interfered with. There is literally no vacant spots from 200 Hz to 3 kc. Has there been any discussion about opening another frequency for FT8?

Larry,

if this is happening when you hit the end of the Watchdog timer, it is an known issue and has been for a number of versions, but one that has been hard to track down. It is not something that will break the system, and can be ignored. The usual fix is to either increase the time on the watchdog, or make sure you're keeping an eye on the time left on the Watchdog time and stop calling CQ, and then restart tranmitting.

For some reason the NA contest mode seems to have been accepted (for HF at least) by the RSGB instead of the EU contest mode which was developed for our EU type exchanges. I have not actually used the EU mode yet as I have not been active on VHF recently hence this question.

As both the NA and EU modes share the same Tx6 message we won't know which version is being used. Are the two contest types able to talk to each other and complete a QSO or are they incompatible? Might not be an issue on HF (though I have seen some EU exchanges in use down there) but on 6m where there is more likelihood of HF and VHF operators overlapping it might be if they won't talk to each other.

I would not expect EU VHF Contest Mode to be used on HF, nobody is interested in 6 character grids there.

The chances of two contests either side of the Atlantic running concurrently plus a transatlantic Es or F2 opening are pretty small IMHO. I still think a consistently directed CQ message that leads to the right contest mode being selected is the best we can do. If users in the EU and anywhere else on HF see CQ TEST ... then they should understand that NA Contest Mode is being used. If EU users on VHF and UP, including 6m, see CQ TEST .. then they should understand that EU VHF Contest mode is being used.

Unfortunately some EU contests on VHF are using NA Contest mode, hopefully that will change as I feel that the EU variant is far more appropriate, particularly where scoring includes points per kilometre.

Note that there is at least one NA microwave contest that uses 6 character grids, so they too may start using EU VHF Contest mode, but there should be no conflict with use outside NA.

As to GROUPS.IO this takes a bit of time, usually requires membership approval is does require a bit of attention by the OWNER. I Own/Moderate 5 different sites. They must be configured to allow access, type and size of files. Otherwise, it is good for discussion groups.

I agree and also appreciate the updates, also the RSGB rules are as you say very clear.

It is only that the EU and NA contest formats do not differentiate which mode you might be using as they are identical Tx6 messages.

I haven't been in a position to test on air due to rotator failure (had to happen when E's arrived!) and I may be worrying about nothing but would like to know what happens if an EU format station (like yourself on Thursday) gets called by someone who is using NA format since they can't tell what mode you require from the CQ message.

Will they talk to each other enough to conclude a QSO or will you be in the same position as you used to be when trying to communicate with a non contest station??

Hello - Here are bugs I'm experiencing with General Release WSJTX 2.2.0 in FT8 and FT4. I'm using Mac OS 10.12.6.

None of these bugs exist in General Release 2.1.2

1) The clock does not continually update by the second but rather randomly. It does immediately update if I hit the Log QSO button.

2) Single clicking Erase has no effect. Doubling clicking Erase eventually clears the Band Activity window - perhaps 10 seconds - vs immediately. The RX Freq window clears if I then click in it. Both windows clear immediately with a right click in each separately.

3) Double clicking on a call in the RX Freq window does not always initiate a TX sequence. The DX Call line will not update to reflect the double click. I'll then have to go to the Band Activity window for it to work.

4) Clicking on Enable TX works but if I then Halt, TXing stops but the Enable TX button remains highlighted - but TXing will not resume on the next appropriate interval. Pressing Enable TX to remove the highlight, the button immediately returns to red and TXing resumes requiring Halt to stop TX. While TXing, if I hit Enable TX so it is no longer highlighted TXing continues for the interval as expected and Halt will stop it if desired.

IE Rather than hitting Halt to stop TXing as in 2.1.2 I have to hit Enable TX to unhighlight it and then Halt to avoid the behavior I've attempted to describe above.

5) Switching to Hound mode causes the Fox Log window to open. Is there a way to prevent that? (The Hold TX Freq state remains sticky when returning to normal mode from Hound. Thanks!)

An option in preferences to change the color of the RX cursor would be useful. The brighter green color in 2.1.2 I find easier to see.

This is interesting as I am seeing a variety of these as well. all from really rare stations, at least on 6m. they are more easily noticed on 6m as stations on the other side of the globe do not show up as legitimate spots compared with spots seen on 20m.
