It is a carry over from my 26 years as a Naval communicator. I learned to listen to my receive signal in the background, and would know when a problem arose and it was time to qsy to new freq. I also monitor my tx at very low levels, helping to solve a problem as soon as possible. On Wed, Sep 30, 2020 at 11:11 AM Bob McGraw - K4TAX <rmcgraw@...> wrote:

When working digital modes, why have the volume turned up on the receiver? If someone is transmitting voice in a Digital or CW band, it is their problem and and the Monitoring Services and FCC can and will deal with it.

FST4W and Split on 20

This issue didn't happen on 630 Meters using the K3 at 160mtrs w/ Transverter...
Attempt to run FST4W on 20 meters....: - added 14.0956 MHz to fqcy list for FST4W - receiving side looks fine, VFO A on expected fqcy and graphically the waterfall shows WSPR emitters in the expected passband. (No decodes though so I assume no one was running the new variant.) - K3 goes to split showing XMT vfo B at -500 Hz below VFO A. - ON XMT my spectrum anlzr shows energy is about 700 Hz above the desired fqcy or about 1200 Hz above the displayed VFO B split fqcy. I played with this for a while and was unable to correct. Went to conventional WSPR and both rcv and xmt act normally (No split) with data appearing on the WSPRNet.org DB for both transmit and receive events... Hope I'm not steering someone on a wild goose chase, i may have missed something obvious....... /Dave K1BZ |

Bill,
Just an FYI... I have seen this popup on a system that uses an AMD Radeon RX580 display adapter with only display ports ( no HDMI ). At the time I was running two instances of 2.3.0Rc1 (ft8) from the Flex6600. I have seen this popup message only on the one instance of WSJTX that was monitoring 6m FT8 ( not much activity on 6 these days ). Hi Bill,Hi Dick, thanks for the extra info. I don't believe that the monitor particular applications are displayed on is pertinent, more that HDMI carries a USB audio stream which seems to get disconnected when the monitor is put into power saving mode. That disconnection may be causing other USB audio streams to be interrupted. This is all guesswork at this stage, but HDMI monitors and Nvidia graphics chips seem to be a common thread. 73 Bill G4WJS. |

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the response. In this instance I was using a Yaesu FTdx3000 internal soundcard connected via USB Silicon Labs CP2105 driver version 10.1.9.2677 to a Dell Inspiron 3470. I did add a second video card in order to use a second monitor. The display adapter is an NVIDIA GeForce GT710. Both monitors are connected via HDMI. The error occurred after the software had been running awhile. I had FST4 running on the GT710 adapter and FST4W was running on the internal Dell adapter which is an Intel UHD Graphics 630. The Latency test is certainly pointing toward the NVIDIA adapter. I did not get an error message after running both instances last night. 73 Dick KE7A |

Missing grids
groups.io@...
I took a look in the wsjt adi file this morning (I was contesting last night and wanted to check that the re-merge had worked) and I noticed a couple of entries where there was no grid square "logged".
I output from wsjt-x to HRD logger, or more to the point it listens for wsjt-x log output and in all of the cases the grid was logged in hrd logger even though not in the wsjt-x adi. I went back over the wsgt-x adi file and noticed that I had a lot more blank entries going back quite a way. Is there an easy way to add this nformation back ti the adi file please? Regards - Terry |

Re: FT8 Data
Sam Birnbaum
Hi Dave,
I wrote a program
Alltext.exe that was originally designed just to read the All.txt
file and find instances of incomplete QSOs so they can be confirmed
should I received a request to confirm. As an exercise, I added a SNR
analysis component to analyze the SNR of all decoded signals on my
end. It is interesting to see the high/low, average and 1 StdDev of
the SNR for the same station being decoded within a short time period
on the same day and the difference of those numbers on different
days. The program can be run while WSJT-X is running and adding
records to the All.txt file. The size of the All.txt file is not a
factor. The program does not load the file into memory so the memory
foot print is very small. There are quite a few number of WSJT-X
users who already loaded down this program and it is free. If you
wish, you can download it from https://groups.io/g/ProgramsByW2JDB.
You will need to first subscribe to it, then go to the files folder
and download it. Place it in any folder on your local hard drive.
Press the File button, navigate to the folder where the All.txt file
is found and select it.
You can display the tail end of the file and select the number of
records to display or
you can search on
the entire file.
If given the
start/end dates for a particular QSO by entering the call signs you
are looking for, the search will take less than 1 second regardless
of the size of the file.
There are no special
installations requirement. There is some additional documentation on
the program written by Rich K1HTV targeting the blind hams that use
this program as well.
There is an
additional PSKReporter function that allows you to download the last
5 minutes of spots from PSKReporter and display either a summary data
for each reported spot or detail data display all the stations that
spotted the same call sign. That function can be reran every 10
minutes as I purposely limited the amount of data I wanted to
download within a short time period.

Sam W2JDB

That may not give a true comparisons unless you can normalize

Yes, I have had reporting switched on since install in August.
I'm not looking for QSO data, that is in my log's. I have been testing a small magloop, indoors,
I wanted to get the data so I can compare the SNR's of all "I" have heard
to what SNR "I" have been heard at. 73 - G8LIY |

Ran a latency test and made sure all power saving options turned off in Windows and the Bios but the latency test still turns red every now and then. So far no error messages this session. Running 630m.Hi Dick, this new message has been added in WSJT-X v2.3.0 so we can discover how many users are not getting clean audio streams. There could be several possible causes. Tell us more about your setup like what your rig is and how it is connected to you PC for audio in and out please? If you are only getting the message once, maybe just after starting WSJT-X, you can dismiss it and ignore it, but if it happens often then it is reporting that 5 or more seconds of input audio samples are unaccounted for, which is highly likely to disrupt decoding of signals. One possible issue that has shown up is power saving on some HDMI monitor setups, it seems it may not be possible to disable power saving with these on certain graphics chips. 73 Bill G4WJS. |

Mike W9MDB gave answer - posted here just in case others are looking: You now have to add a hamlib_settings.json file in the same place as WSJT-X.ini It should contain this { "config": { "auto_power_on": "1" } } --

Loss Of Auto Turn-on Of Radio With WSJT-X Start-up
