OK I'm switching from Dimension4 to Meinberg. Does one just uninstall Dimension4 like any other program? Or do you have to reenable Windows time server before installing Meinberg?

Bill,
The big obstacle to a database as you suggest, is that some legislations allow people to use the plain call at another location without the need to sign say /A. Also the FCC allow continental hams to use their call in other DXCCs such as KL, KH or KP4.
Databases do exist that map calls that could be a number of DXCCs, such as GB or VP8, to the specific DXCC.

Hi,Hi Stefan, that's too much latency. If you are receive only you can adjust your system clock to compensate but for Tx and Rx you are out of spec for using WSJT-X. I often use an SDRPlay RSPduo with the accompanying SDRuno console software, that has about 350 mS of Rx latency, which is about the practical limit for HF FT8 use. The recently introduced FT8early decoding passes rely on Rx latencies no higher than that sort of level, with latencies higher than about 400 mS the FT8 decoding algorithm is compromised. 73 Bill G4WJS. |

Bill yes I have spent a lot of time looking at the colors in WSJTX, I tried several schemes to get it to match JTAlert colors but i gave up. i just found it too confusing, and as i said before, i could not keep the different colors straight, I'm sure its me, I'm sure others find it very useful. also I apologize for saying the colors are not band specific, as they are. Compensating RX audio delay
Stefan HB9TMC
Hi,
I use an SDR for receiving, which introduces an audio delay of 1.6 to 2.0 seconds. (KiwiSDR; Using "abuf" parameters I can bring the delay down to ~1 sec, but that causes other problems) This isn't a problem for WSPR and works mostly well for FT8, but sometimes (for example if someones clock is a bit too late), it doesn't decode. FST4W also seem to be picky about time accuracy. I could set the computer clock to 2 sec late, which would solve the receiving/decoding. But that would cause trouble when transmitting Does anyone have a tip on how I could solve the problem (for example tell WSJT-X to start decoding 2 sec later) Thanks, 73, Stefan |

Thank you.Hi John, go to the "Settings->Colors" panel to see the highlighting options. As you will see there; highlighting new things per band or overall are both available. WSJT-X does not have US State highlighting. This is mainly due to there being no readily available database in a suitable format that maps US calls to US States. A secondary reason is that even though WAS is a popular objective, it is rather geographically limited. If anyone were to contribute an accurate, well maintained database of *all* primary sub-entities Worldwide; then I'm sure such a source could form the basis of an excellent objective for DXers, after all main regional variants are already expressed as awards (WAS, DL Doks, JA Prefectures, UK Counties, Oblasts of Russia and many others, ...). JTAlert and other applications that interoperate with WSJT-X are able to initiate QSOs with callers without having to locate the their CQ message in the Band Activity decodes window. E.g. with JTAlert (assuming "Settings->Reporting->Accept UDP requests" is checked in WSJT-X) you can simply left-click the call in the alerts panel to initiate a QSO. 73 Bill G4WJS. |

john- re your other questions- no you can't see states in wsjtx, again jtalert is your friend here. settings , wanted us states. I do not believe the colors in wsjtx are band specific, in jtalert they are. Dan KC2STA On Tue, Oct 27, 2020 at 7:58 PM John K9JMS <k9jms.fl@...> wrote: Two quick questions. John- with jtAlert, in either the callsign display or decodes window, just click the call sign you want to work. No need to search the wsjtx window. The decodes window is very useful, as the callsigns don't disappear after the cycle is over. Bring is up with F9, or see the view menu. as for the wsjtx colors, i only have active is "my call in message' and "transmitted message'. other wise its too many colors which I can't remember anyway. try it! I should think so. It would be something like interpreting handwriting. I am not a programmer and only have experience with machine learning in a theoretical capacity as the director of an R&D department working with such technologies in a totally different field. You know, old experienced professional “sparks” on ships could recognize the person transmitting purely from his cW “handwriting”.
So yes, I think it would be possible.
However, as others have pointed out in this thread, there are already very good Cw decode programs out there. To what degree a system using ANN, or some variety of this technology, would seriously improve the decoding I do not know.

I have a FlexRadio 6600M and trying to install wstj. In the wsjt Setting -> Radio menu I have entered the IP address of my computer xxx.xxx.x.x:5011. Then set the Flex SmartSDR CAT to the 5011 port and click on the "Test CAT" button. The button turns red and I get the following error message "Hamlib error: IO error while opening connection to rig" which is not very informative. |

Re: Continuing problem, WSJT-X fails to decode
HI Bill,

Following up on this, I’ve been off the air for a few days but fired up WSJT-X today and got another freeze. I’m sending you the last three .wav files that were saved consistent with your request below. To me they just sound like normal audio and seem to terminate normally. WSJT-X was up and frozen when I grabbed them and after I did, and closed WSJT-X, I checked and no more .wav files had been written. I also took a short video showing WSJT-X with the waterfall frozen but the 15-sec timer still running and Flex DAX showing audio still being generated by the radio (that is, the radio and audio connection weren't frozen). Being a video file, I won’t attach it here in case you’d rather I sent it via another means.
I’ve been getting these freezes since at least the first V2 and maybe before. I can’t correlate them to anything. During that time I’ve had four different Flex radios (quality is not a Flex Radio attribute - software or hardware) and several revisions of SSDR, CAT, DAX and Windows 10 software (I’m on 2004 now) running on three different fast laptops each set up from scratch. I don’t use any third party AV software as they’re all basically malware themselves. The freezes seem to just “happen”. Sometimes closing and restarting WSJT-X fixes it and sometimes I have to restart the whole computer. I’ve lost at least one potential ATNO due to this.
Thanks for helping as always !
