Just on JT9-1 a short time but in 2 nights of listening much above 1838 plus 1500 hz is useless here. Due to a local noise.
About a half dozen in the log so far on 160 between 1838 plus 1400 and 1600 hz. Also ran a few Europeans on 10.130 around noon time in the plus 1400 to 1500 hz area. Haven't found JT9-1 on any other bands yet so will look forward to hearing what is being used where on the other bands. K1CF just asked me to try JT9-2 - works - talk about long and drawn out though. Sloooooooooow Will be around 1838 plus 1500 most of the evening... 73 Andy (VE9DX)

After you use JT9-2 for a QSO, JT9-1 seems fast. There is some activity on 14.078, I made a few contacts there. 73, John - kc2rxs On 11/9/2012 7:45 PM, ve9dx wrote:

KD7YZ Bob <kd7yz@...>
On 09-Nov-12 ve9dx sent, on a straight key:
Just on JT9-1 a short time but in 2 nights of listening much aboveHi ndy. I would guess that the limited number of us initially on JT9 are struggling to find openings in the segments of each general JT65 area. You local noise, is it far wider than +/- 1838 +1500Hz? It is break-of-day here in KY and I am 1839.5 +1300 calling CQ. on 1838 I am hammered by the JT65 guys operating essentially 1839 too. But with the USB dial set to 1839.5 and then my offset of 1300, I can hear one CQ'er but the tones arquite a bit Low and thus not really in the perceived passband and not all over the screen, so to speak. Were I lower, 1838, it would be left-to-right jt65 splatter. K1CF just asked me to try JT9-2 - works - talk about long and drawn out though.yup. I tried it too. I am trying to work out the logic. yeah I would be able to hear/collect/integrate and double my chances of a decode. The flipside is that to transmit a solid 2 minutes I'd Quarter my ft950 output. Here's one for all discussion. I was just calling CQ on offset +1300 and Tx=QSO Freq. N1HOQ did what I do a lot of the time, called me but at Offset +1500. I double-click and set TX=QSO .. So I am actually now on his offset .. he then does not respond in the next sequence. I do that all to many times. It's like i expect the program to automatically put me on caller's offset. Guess I'll eventually remember to do it. -- Bob KD7YZ

What's a good place on 160m?
KD7YZ Bob <kd7yz@...>
I have been calling CQ on 1839.5 +1300 for a few nights. I get hammered
and hammered by JT65 which comes up there and directly on my signal. KB3X has done this lasting as long as 45 minutes. Is there a better place we can congregate? I find it unhelpful to need to logon to one of many Internet Forums to then announce I call CQ. Anyway, one would have to do this on many sites to be moderately effective. It defeats the purpose of "Radio" anyway. Rather get used to a singe On-The-Air frequency to see if anyone i on. However, not one that I get hammered on by a wider and different mode. -- Bob KD7YZ EM88

Bob, I listened last night on 1838 and 1835.5 most the evening and never heard any JT9. I'll check 1839.5 after a while tonight here in the West. See if I can hear anyone. Is anyone on 80M? Where? On 40M? Thanks for the 30M Q earlier today. 73 Bob W1XT Surprise, AZ

New in the group
sp1jpq <jerry@...>
Hi all.
I regularly use JT65 on HF and VHF. Of course, I turned immediately in testing new Digimode JT9. Unfortunately I do not have an antenna for 160 meters, so try to do the 3.5, 7, 10 MHz. Two days ago, make first DX SQO on 10.130 with VE9DX. IMHO WSJTX software is very promising, but it still contains a lot of errors and requires a lot of work. Best regards, 73 Jerry SP1JPQ & SO1D (contest call)

At least we finally made it on 30m. There is still just a few of us, so I'm sure that activity will improve in time, as Joe gets the software really singing, and more individuals have a go. Cheers & 73's Dave, G3ZXX.

160m poll
DAVID <wd4kpd@...>
the 160m qrg poll is coming along ala-bit slowly.
so far 1839 & 1839.5 are most popular. i suspect this is because of the qrm from jt65. will be closing poll by the holiday, so please vote. the outcome is of course not binding in any way, but if you wish less qrm, the popular choice would seem to the best. as an aside, the qrg on 30m seems to have defaulted to 10.130 all by itself. i will not be holdiing a 30m poll. please vote on 160m soonest. david/wd4kpd
