But this does NOT guarantee a clear frequency if multiple callers do the same! I also am unhappy when stations call on my frequency, and I often don't respond to them.

But task manager won't remember the settings.
You can have ProcessHacker start as admin and it will reset the priorities.
ProcessHacker is just superior to Task Manager in all sorts of ways.

Funny how on phone or cw, it seems that the human ear can pick up snd decode the strongest signal during a pileup even when we are all on the same frequency.

And if everyone does that then this offset becomes a QRM-fest where no one is decoded. WSJT-X can only do so much. Also on a busy band it may nit possible to select a slot that looks clear both ways.

I do find it annoying if a station will not answer my reply to their CQ when I am on my frequency, but
will reply only when I am on their TX frequency.

The waterfall is only blank at your antenna. May well be beet red half way across the world (or even closer to your antenna,) Blankness or occupation is also a function of your RF Gain --- whole

While I agree that it is good practice to look for a blank or reasonably
blank spot in the waterfall, the difference between FT8 and CW and SSB is

Just an fyi, you can also use the taskmgr by clicking on the detail tab, hightlight audiodg.exe click right mouse button.No need for another program.

ID020 is the TS-480 so you should not see those warnings if you use TS-480 entry.
I've found what may be one possible solution for dropped audio.
Install ProcessHacker -- it's a replacement for Task

I am trying to install WSJT-X to run FT8 on a Dell laptop hooked to an Icom 7300. I see signals in the waterfall on the Icom radio but nothing shows in any version of WSJT 2.5.4 (either 32 or 64 bit)

Yes I have auto seq checked and it does prompt me to log at the end of the qsl. My problem is we just keep going back and forth trying to complete the signal report exchange for it to move
