I chased that thing up over 100Khz (and went to lunch so not sure how far it ended up going).
No real storms in the area...and no tectonic plate movement that I noticed :-)

I have heard that exact interference on AM radio in a vehicle travelling through a heavy snow storm. The sound would buildup in intensity and then would suddenly stop. It would start again

6M QRM
I was monitoring 6M and had a rather annoying item sweep through the band.
As of right now (16:51 UTC) it's up to 50.282 and still climbing. It's not monotonic on the freq scale as it does oscillate

And if you put JN45 in the DX Call box right now what azimuth do you get?
At least for me on WSJTX 1.7.0 r6687 using your grid I get 48 degrees. There has been no change to that calculation from

Just on the surface, and looking at a world map. Italy is more likely to be
North East of me (in the south eastern US) than North West of me.
