I use the Pwr slider to adjust power output, and the Pwr slider is always set to a fraction of full scale when I am using WSJT-X. Much quicker than navigating the menu on my Icom 7200. And less error

Steve,
Bill explained the most probable real reason for the ’compressed’ waterfall and wider noise like signals on waterfall i.e. about half of audio samples are lost due to some overload in PC.

Reino,
The WSJT-X User Guide says, "Be sure that your audio device is configured to sample at 48000 Hz, 16 bits." That is what I have it set for. My audio settings has two choices for 48000 Hz 16-bit;

If your IF filter bandwidth in your radio is set too narrow, you will get the same problems. You should set your rx IF bandwidth as wide as your radio permits on SSB (4 kHz if possible). Then adjust

First of all, once you set your tx level, it should not change by mode.
In File > Settings > Audio : at the bottom there are two boxes:

Lance -- WSJT-X works with 48kHz 16-bit. Check the audio interface you're using to make sure that is what is set. Something might have changed it.
