God Bless you Ray. Little behind you on the curve, I turn 70 in Aug.
Contemplating Linux, my Son is a Linux Guru. Made a nice carreer of it. I have yet to abandon the Mother Ship but realize do not

Hi Chris,
Yaesu radios with built in USB connections create two virtual serial ports called standard and enhanced. The enhanced port is the one that includes CAT control. See the Yaesu driver

Does it do that simultaneously with digital signals? There are only four conductors in a USB cable right? Five volts, ground and two signal lines. I will have to do some research now. That

Hi Paul,
the audio signals passed over the USB cable are in the form of PCM digital audio, they go to and come from the audio codec built into your rig. The audio codec is basically a DAC and ADC

The information on the USB cable is digital. The digital-to-analog conversion is done inside the radio by the USB audio codec.

As has already been suggested, if you use PulseAudio and the associated volume control utility you will be able to see and control every audio stream easily.
