Confusion could be avoided if the checkbox were disabled (greyed-out) for those modes that ignore it.

I'm currently running WSJT-X on a slightly older laptop using Ubuntu Mate 20.04. I had to do a little finagling to get it installed, but it works great! I have a Kenwood TS-590SG which has a USB

Not connecting
I have been using version 2.2.1 and 2.2.2 for ft4 and ft8 on a ts2000 with signaling USB. I have NOT been successful in connecting with weak and strong signals.

Like others I use Linux to run WSJT-X, both on a Raspberry Pi and a PC. I actually think hardware is better supported by Linux. I happily let Linux do its updates with no problem.

Hi Andy,
that will probably be due to the earlier start of the FT8 decoder, and the three phases of decoding it now does. Something that the AlarmJT author will need to address.

I have been using WSJT-X with NO problems at all (up to and including version 2.1.2) on "Andy's Ham Radio Linux", which is a remix of Ubuntu Linux. Yes, I'm that Andy. :-)
