One simple check - don’t start JTAlert (no need to remove it just don’t start it) does the problem still happen?
You don’t even need to work someone - pop a callsign in WSJT-X and then

Maybe for the 756Pro, but for LOTS of radios, the SignaLink represents a simple solution for FT8. Some rigs use CAT to turn on the front microphone which defeats the rear digital mode audio.

Hi Skip,
you haven't told us what rig you have or how it is connected to your Mac for audio and CAT control.
Most rigs have a menu setting to adjust the audio line out amplitude.

Almost nothing on the "wide graph" and no gain.
Running OSX Big Sur. Parallels with Windows 10 pro installed. FT8 on WSJT-X works a treat.
Trying to setup WSJT-X on the Mac itself and it is giving me fits. The graph shows a signal on the bottom.

Just be sure that you have a way of doing PTT. The Signalink is designed to do PTT, an inexpensive USB sound card might not support PTT. Download manual for Signalink USB to see what I mean. The
