They (Yaesu) did put the AGC off setting on the menu.
Press and hold the AGC button to switch it off.
Quick press just cycles through Auto, Fast, Med, Slow.

Bill,I had the same question that Martin did. “gpsd -V” doesn’t work for me. I get “gpsd: command not found”. This is on a Rpi4 running Buster.

it is unlikely that DXpeditions use FT8 DXpedition mode on the "usual" FT8 subbands, they are more likely using the "multi-streaming" extension to the MSHV clone of WSJT-X. It is unfortunate

Unfortunately some DXPeditions use Fox & Hounds mode on default FT8 frequencies, defeating some of the advantages of that mode, and negating the advantage of your suggestion to use a F&H

Bruce,
I find the power slider to be fairly accurate, if not near the top. If you set up for a 0dB signal, and follow the slider to drop, say 10dB, it is pretty accurate.

In your profile or "Chat". But unfortunately I do not think it is used by many.
I also would like lower powers to be accommodated but I guess the protocol can
