I'm at a loss. You could do a radio reset. The Data Mod & Data Mod off menus caught me when I first got the radio. Use of the SD card makes switching modes & bands very easy. Someone(s) else will pop in & offer up some suggestions. 73, k5vp

Re: No decode, waterfall compressed

Try shutting down both chrome & explorer! Neither are needed to run wsjt-x & both are memory & cpu hogs! See how much your cpu usage is reduced, then see if that helps you wsjt-x function properly. Further, try running only one at a time any other time; as chrome & explorer conflict w/each other frequently. I don't even use "exploder" anymore. 73 - John - N7GHZ

Re: OK Please help
JP Tucson, AZ
John, You want to select an area to TX in that is blank; i.e. dark, so that you are not talking over other operators. In theory, you can choose any section that is clear. I prefer to keep it "in between the lines..." if you drag & set the width of the waterfall to show about 100 to 2600 hz; that will give you 50hz wide tick marks. Since that is the width of FT8, it makes it easy to line up. (Again, not abs. Necessary, just a cleaner look. The waterfall shows the 15 second slices (FT8); 2 slices make for the full 30 second cycle. It helps if in settings, you turn on the separation lines (green). The Red sideways 'C' is where your TX frquency is. The green is receive freq. They do not have to line up (in fact, it is better if you Tx on a different freq than whom you are talking with. It really doesn't matter where the green rx cursor is, as anyone calling you will show up in the right side panel; except that where the green is will display all msgs on that freq. It is also helpful to lock the TX freq. as that will keep others usually from talking over you as they we see a vertical line of constant use. If you bounce all over, it makes it more like you & others will collide & interfere with each other. Hope this helps 73 - John - N7GHZ

Try putting the 7300 in rtty & key ur mic. If your power level is set to full, you should see output. The other possible 'gotcha' is forgetting to set the Menu of Connectors > Data Mod Off from USB to Mic. k5vp

Re: No decode, waterfall compressed
Hi Bill and Reino,
With nothing running except Chrome browser, I typically get between 5-20% CPU usage. After I start WSJT-X, my CPU usage goes up to 75% or more, the waterfall looks "compressed" and I get no decodes. WSJT-X only uses about 2.8% of that CPU usage. The two processes that use the most CPU are Windows Explorer (23.6%) and Service Host: Capability Access Manager Service (18.7%). When I open the Audio Devices, Recording, Microphone (USB Audio Codec) window, my CPU usage drops to about 35%, the Service Host process is gone and Windows Explorer takes only 6.0% CPU. My waterfall looks good and I get good decodes. I can run like this for hours without any problem; unless I close that Audio Devices window and try to transmit (even when transmitting into a dummy load with the power level on the IC-7300 set to zero, the problem reoccurs). How do I keep this Service Host process from even starting? (If that is even the culprit.) If I kill Windows Explorer, I lose my desktop. BTW, I have no problem with using PSK-31 with DM-780 (from HRD) and no problem using FLdigi for CW decoding. I'm not dead in the water with WSJT-X. My workaround with the Audio Devices works every time. It's just a nuisance now. 73, Steve KS3K

Re: OK Please help
Find a clear place to put your red bracket to TX. You will Recieve everything regardless where you're at. The green bracket will be a specific freq. What band you on? I'll get you on 40m. See you there.

I have everything working finally, Just don't understand the waterfall part and when and where to TX. I have read several books, and I am still at a loss. I can receive fine. I can TX everything is showing I have a signal going out with audio. Just don't quite know if I have to click on one of the spaces between 100 and 3000 and if so, how do I know where? I am starting to be able to tell where there are signals to receive. by the yellow lines. John M. Sokol K9JMS

You mention that you are et for digital mode (WSJT-X). When you disconnect the computer & attempt another mode: SSB or CW(?) are you reconfiguring the radio for the mode change? Are you using the SD card option for mode changes?

Re: Possible to add new keyboard shortcut?
Many thanks for all the replies! I use an IC-7200 with the USB interface. I keep my RF power at about 80% and the USB audio input at about 65%. With the PWR slider of WSJT-X at about 3/4, this gives me just about 20 - 25 watts. My power does fluctuate somewhat by band, but the "Tune" and "Transmit" memories in the app work perfectly.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
About 30 minutes ago I worked a station that gave me a +23 report. Rare, but once in a while even I get lucky! I reduced the Pwr slider by a bit and brought my power down to around 10 watts. A bit hard to do in only a couple of seconds allowed in FT4. Using the Pwr slider I can adjust my base power output from about 5 watts to around 35 watts without any effect on the ALC level. I don't make larger power excursions, and change the level upwards when trying to work a "new one"! If there aren't too many people requesting this, I understand it may be a bit more work than it's worth. It can't hurt to ask! Tnx es 73 Dave - KB3MOW

Would it be possible to add keyboard shortcuts to increase or decrease audio output level? On FT4 and sometimes on FT8, the limited transmission time makes it tricky to get the mouse cursor centered on the power slider in time to raise or lower the audio level. I am hopeful there is a way to set perhaps the up/down arrows, or maybe page up/page down buttons do do this.

Re: MAP65 .dll files missing

Same problem here. I have two Fun Cube Dongles Pro that seem to work with SDRSharp.
Connected to two LNA to 432 MHz Yagis for EME. For kicks I copied/pasted the two '5' files as '4' files, rebooted, restarted MAP65 and the same. When I use my IQ+ it gives me a message 'Failed to open Si570', so I don't have a way to use MAP65 either way. If you or someone in the group have any ideas please let me know I how to get the EME signals decoded the good days are coming fist week in April for EME DX.. Thanks.

I also use a TS-2000 with a Signalink as the soundcard interface. As to power level, I use either the slider on the WSJT-X UI or the TX control on the Signalink.

I run Kenwood TS2000 but never change the PA output setting from the 100 watt setting on the radio. If I lower power via the PA output control without changing the audio drive level , the PA goes into alc so I just change the drive level via the power slider on WSJT X . Zero to one hundred watts and never any alc action. Just curious how others set up to change power levels. Thanks Mack W4ENN

I hate to say this, but PWR or Power would be the correct control. What radio?
