Re: wav recordings
Paul W5PF
It appears to be working now. I had to go in and manually erase the existing files. Then when I started WSJTX with no wav files it deletes the new file after each receive period. Should have tried that before posting. Paul W5PF

Thanks for the response. Yes I did receive a private email advising me. I thank you very much for responding though.

Darl, you may have found the answer, but I didn't see any response to your message. You are correct about the alternate F1 - F6 functions not being explained in the User Guide. In the WSJT-X main window, however, if you select the Help - Keyboard Shortcuts, you will find it in the parenthesis for F1 to F6. F1 = transmit Tx6 (CQ) F2 = transmit Tx2 F3 = transmit Tx3 F4 = transmit Tx4 F5 = transmit Tx5 F6 = toggle "Call 1st)
As you already know, they are activated in the Settings - General, check "Alternate F1-F6 bindings".
There is no F key for Tx1, as the software intentionally requires you to actively make the selection of which station to call, if you are not the CQ-ing station.

Hey Walter, Thanks but that is what I have done and they are still being saved. At least there is apparently a limit of 2611 files because the oldest is erased before the new one is saved. 73, Paul W5PF

Re: WSJT-X is not decoding but shows signals on waterfall
Kent AA6P
Yesterday I opened WSJT-X and had the same problem with no FT8 decodes. I checked my computer clock and it was a full 4 seconds ahead!
After synchronization, everything is back to normal. I wonder if leap day on February 29 could have been a factor. Windows 10 does have an easy synchronization feature. Go to Settings, Time & Language, Synchronize Your Clock, and Sync Now.

I also use Windows Defender on the computer running wsjt-x. I set it not to scan wsjt-x's audio directory.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Set your wsjt-x to save audio files. Then after awhile, like 5 minutes, you can play back the audio files in wsjt-x and see what it can read in the files verse what it saw live. Don't leave the save audio files turned on like I did, or you will run out of disk space. Although you likely did, make sure you have the latest drivers for the 7300. Re: Intermittent Decode
Jim,
Thank you. I use Windows Defender for Virus Protection. It has always been used on this computer. WSJT-X ran fine for about a year with no issues. This started in January sometime. It is Still a problem now. Yesterday I noticed it would decode fine, then start skipping cycles. Then it would decode SOME of a cycle it had been skipping. You can see many stations on the waterfall but the program will only decode 2 or 3 stations. Then everything will be fine (after about 30 minutes) then I go to transmit to a station and after maybe 2 cycles, it will stop decoding the receive cycle! AARRGGHH! I wish I knew what changed in January. If anyone wants to see my configuration, let me know and I will send it to you. Again I have an IC-7300 into a Desktop Computer with a dual core pentium running 2.5 GHz with 8 GB ram. Thank You, Steve - N6RSH

Open the frequency window and right click where the freqs are missing. A popup will appear. Click Reset. 73, Herb WB8ASI

Marque Alain
Good evening, and delighted to join you on this group. of the differents modes
wsjt-x 2.1.2. with W7 pro 64bits,
the frequency window in the "sittings" remains desperately empty. no frequency and no modes are displayed.
I downloaded and installed the program xx times.
If, I choose a mode the frequency change does not work
if I manually display the frequency of FT8 or other it works perfectly tx / rx.
I changed the USB cable between the PC and the FTDX101D several times.
have you ever encountered this problem? ?
(tests with mshv this one works perfectly).

that shares this GUI.

Re: CANT ADJUST SIZE OF WSJT-X WINDOW
Yes tried changing resolution several times - nothing works .. ALL other programs act normally including WSJT 10.0 and the waterfalls; WSJT-X 2.1.2 will not adjust smaller than 90% of my screen width...something in THAT program ?

The FEC and a priori decoding algorithms can successfully extract a valid decode from portions of the original transmitted message, in fact in the case of a priori decode which specific parts of the message that survive the communications channel losses will influence the decoding success. A rough estimation, that is probably as good as any, is that if half of the message bits are received then a decode is possible, sometime more are needed, sometime less. 73 Bill G4WJS.

Hi John, I am not an developer, but based on what I have learned the actual message is not delayed, when you start TX later. Only beginning of the message is not sent and the remaining is in proper sync with the timeslot. You may start transmission up to almost half way of the timeslot and still the message can be decoded in good propagation conditions. 73, Reino oh3mA

Jim Bacher - WB8VSU
Steve, some users in the past have had their virus scanner cause that issue. It can occur when the virus scanner is scanning the audio file. I have my virus scanner set not to scan the wsjtx audio files.
